With Liam 'Atlantic Bridge' Fox in charge of international trade the policies are clear, even if they are not stated in any manifesto. His aims have always been reduced environmental protection and opening up NHS to competition.

So Tory policy will be privatisation of healthcare provision and fracking licences for US corporations.

I imagine they're all going to be a dozen non-specific 'pledges' to avoid having to make any kind of promises they can be called out on.

I'm on holiday when all this bullshit kicks-off. How far in advance do postal votes usually have to be in?

I don't understand politics, the electoral system or anything like that so a general election means nothing to my simple self. I just need to know one thing; who am I voting for to try and stop this Brexit bullshit? Can it even be stopped at this point?

Can't be stopped stopped but can be stopped. Lib Dems would have us in in all but name.

    It can be stopped.

Probably flipping SNP at this point. The only party willing to actually stand against Brexit (loudly) and acknowledge that 52% isn't the end of the question

Also notice the election is before EU negotiations start so that the true reality of it all cannot be part of the vote. Tho I guess having a new government in the middle of these two years would be a headache.

It can be stopped stopped. But probably won't be.

The only way Brexit can really be stopped now is if some super-charismatic bizarro-Farage comes out of nowhere and mobilises pro-European sentiment as a popularist movement.

Basically, unless Simon Cowell starts a pro-European party with Richard Branson funding it, Brexit can't be stopped.

I'm voting Green. But that's no change for me. Lib Dems are the only other English party currently represented in parliament that are anti-Brexit. You could vote for them.

    Unless you're gay.

Then you probably shouldn't, seeing how Farron thinks you're all sinners.

Never could believe the things you do to me
Never could believe the way you are
Every day I bless the day that you got through to me
'Cause baby, I believe that you're a star

Everyone's a sinner, baby, that's the truth (yes, the truth)
Making love to you is such a thrill
Everyone's a sinner, baby, that's no lie (yes, no lie)
You never fail to satisfy (satisfy)
    Let's do it again

May wants certainty. I thought the Will of the People was Clear.

    She wants Unity.

    So election.

Fucking hell politics is fucking dire atm.

    Yeah, sorry, that was harsh.

Is being christian better than being anti-semite?

Don't see much value in either stand point.

Also, Evening Standard being edited by a sitting MP seems even more egregious now. Somehow. Urghhhhhhh.

All I've taken from this thread so far is the Full Metal Alchemist image of a mishapen, dog-form Bojo speaking with Theresa May's guttural tones, which may or may not be a better alternative to the next six weeks.

Thanks quaddy ! (on the horse Google search)

Guess the icing on the cake would be a minority/hung government. Wouldn't that be fun !

I guess it's a shrewd move though. Call an election when Labour might be at it's direst in the polls, and before the shit hits the fan with Brexit. And they can lie pretty much constantly and unchallenged and people still gobble it up. Win win.

Increased Tory majority prob helps solve her backbench loons problem.

It is just sad that the whole country is so often a pawn between the front and backbenches of one party.

Sorry if this is an utterly thick question, so please ELI5 and don't judge me, but when the blue thundercunts get voted back in, in June, is there still a GE in 2020, or are we stuck with them for 5 years from June?

I wouldn't say it was that screwd. Corbyn prevents even erstwhile Labour voters like me from voting for them, so conservatives would have a free ride if it was the usual party politics - throw the last ditch hopes of the remainers behind Lib Dems or SNP though and things don't look quite so easy for the Cons. Obviously they think differently, but I can't help but think this is a massive miscalculation.
