    @Derblington it's still going to be the same pointless grind. I'd say that if you didn't like those things about the first game you'll get bored of this one quickly too.

    It is interesting because when i say Destiny 1.5 - for me that's a good thing. It is a refresh which allows lapsed destiny players to rejoin the fun without needing to grind hundreds of hours to get on par.

    I imagine those that didn't like Destiny 1 will say Destiny 1.5 with a sneer but i think bungie have done the right thing - make the game for fans of the game .

    @ecu
    It's not that I don't like it, per se, I'm just conscious of it being, more or less, an unattainable carrot. It's very engaging to constantly try to reach it though.

    If they improve the diversity of the XP grind as well as the reward loop and satisfaction, it'll be better. Mechanically it already very good.

    I also want a better story but it's not *required* as it's just the wrapper around the mechanics.

    @Derblington fair enough. when was the last time you played Destiny? It's really very much improved in its current state.

    @Derblington

    They improved the XP grind with Taken King and then again with Rise of Iron.

    Therefore quite a bit of the original trudge was removed. As I do not think you played those even if D2 was exactly the same as ROI you should find it much better than Vanilla Destiny.

    I've not played any of the expansions, no. I have some, just not the final one.

    It's a very different game today, if anything they nerfed the grind a bit too much as you can reach max level in no time.

    If they can fix the mental load times or at least get rid of the need to head back to the Tower all the time, and make the patrol elements less mind-numbing, it could be quite good. The story portions and strikes were all pretty decent, it was just all the inbetween guff that ground me down.

    @StarchildHypocrethes at the event yesterday they said you don't need to go to orbit anymore.

    @ecu to be fair it doesn't mean you don't need to go to the tower anymore (or whatever the new tower is) ;)

    I guess each planet will have tower type facilities on it (like the village they showed). Therefore you could just walk to it mid patrol.

    (They also talked as if there would be multiple landing points on each planet. Therefore you will probably warp there instead).

    True, I'm sure we'll need to go to the base camp they showed, but it seems we could be on patrol on Nessus then select the "tower" directly from the map and it'll take you there instead of having to go to orbit first.

    Yeah, i expect everything to be in world so rather than flying to the map point for a mission you can just drive there.

    Some of you know how many hours I put into Destiny, a true Guardian. However, I'm just not sure I want to jump down that rabbit hole again; make that commitment again. I could happily skip this one game and play another 10 instead.
    I wonder how many feel like I do?

    @oldskooldeano I missed so many games in year 1 because of Destiny, it was ridiculous. From TTK I've been taking months long hiatus and played many more games. I think I haven't played since November but I had time before that to get to max, do the new raid and challenges, IB, Trials, etc.
    I'm looking forward to D2 but I don't want to be missing out on RDR2, Crackdown 3, etc. so I kinda hope they don't have too much content at launch.

    There's no way the grind will have been removed, Smoother maybe but still it will be a step back from later 1 expansions other wise everyone will burn through it all in no time. They have idiots like ign saying "I hope they've fixed the entry point to the raid, I don't want to grind for hours just to make the grade" Nope, wake up. They won't have changed much there, I'm fine with that but as I said before I don't think they've made this to answer the critics, they are just doubling down on most of it.

    I spent 685 hours on Destiny and that only puts me in the top 45%

    It's crazy how many hours people have put into it. I've got a huge friends list made up of people I've played it with since release and a good amount still play it daily.

    I'll be getting on board as I like what I've seen but I will struggle to commit the time to it that I used to. I won't want to miss out on other games either, I fear I may get left behind right out the gate this time around.

    Hopefully the new matchmaking mechanics will mean that I won't feel peer pressure to keep up with a regular group and I'll be able to plod through it all at my own pace.

    Yeah, don't get me wrong, more Destiny is a good thing for me. Especially if they add some QoL improvements, like being able to start activities without going to space first.

    My only issue (and obviously it's nothing confirmed yet) is that it looks like they won't be just adding content, but also removing what was there already. It makes sense for a sequel, but... Imagine if we had all of the new content, plus the old content. Long-running MMOs usually do that. The end result would be an ultimately massive game.

    I have 181 hours (left the vanilla game for years until two months ago, when I bought all the expansions at once), and that only puts me in the top 81%.

    I'm sure it will launch with a ton of content this time but it looks surprisingly familiar, I was expecting a 4th class and new enemy types at the very least.
    Why offer that at launch when you can have people paying for it in DLCs?

    @LeD you can't offer a new class through DLC though, it would break the game. Unless it's free.

    @oldskooldeano

    I'm with you mate. Played for over 500 hours, completed so many raids including flawless completions of VoG and Crota.

    Lots of decisions made by Bungie have pissed me off but it was when The Taken King came out that I really started to resent the game and the people who make it. Taking away all of the amazing raid primaries we'd worked our bollocks off to acquire for the sake of 'Variety' only to bring them back as exotics that you have to re-grind for 6 months before Destiny 2 drops. Thanks Bungie!

    When Destiny released there wasn't any massive open world game taking up all of my gaming time so I played a lot of Destiny. This time I'll have RDR 2 to play so I'm thinking of waiting a couple of years until all the dlc has been released and getting what will cost the hardcore Destiny fans hundreds of pounds for around 40. I should be able to reach the top light level in a week judging from my experience with the original Density.

    I'm a Sunbro as well and from what I've read they're killing my subclass. Thanks again!
