    I remember that was about all anyone was saying on global chat on Xenoblade chronicles X.

    I've never heard of them and after turning off chat I never did again :)

    Incredibly brief impression of Doom...

    You need to update before you can play.
    It looks decent, but very soft (sub-native resolution I guess).
    So far it feels incredibly smooth, but...
    I cannot aim for shit. I think it's the right stick more than the game, I'll try tweaking some settings.

    All in handheld mode.

    @THFourteen Randomly, you could choose Shulk's voice when creating your own character in XCX.

    @neems The aiming with the joycon's right stick is the main thing putting me off. Most reviews I've read or watched have mentioned needing to adjust the sensitivity.

    You sort of forget about it when you get into a proper firefight, I'm mostly left stick aiming rather than trying to draw a bead on them. Pretty impressive all things considered.

    If it is I'll be most upset as I bought £25 worth of credit today with a tenner going on cat quest!

    I think it's due on the 14th? God this month is expensive.

    /But Doom is bloody amazing. I think switch might be some kind of handheld gamer holy grail.

    Edit: BigOrk. How is cat quest? I'm finding it near irresistible. Need you to tell me it's crap. ;)

    It's not crap! I've only played about 45 minutes so far, and it's pretty fun. Same kind of vein as Torchlight but cut down in an iOS kind of way, and with cats. It's not blowing me away or anything right now though, I'd like a bit more time with it before I really cast judgement.

    Weird thing is I don't really like cats at all ( highly allergic and they seem to know it) but I really fancy it. Maybe I have a latent fondness for them

    For the attention of THFourteen and other Stardew Valley loons, Harvest Moon Light of Hope is on the way for Switch.

    Also Cat Quest is already available on Steam, where it has a rating of 'Overwhelmingly Positive'. Just saying.

    @neems

    Does it have stupid characters like Animal crossing does?

    That whole interaction massively put me off AC.

    @THFourteen

    I actually have no idea, I just heard that Harvest Moon was a precursor to Stardew Valley and figured it'd be your cup of tea.

    The new Harvest Moon looks like absolute pap, sadly.

    Story of Seasons is the proper Harvest Moon now.

    Games called Harvest Moon haven't been good recently. Don't confuse the two.

    A bit like when Football Manager split from Championship Manager.

    20 hours into Stardew Valley, Iím utterly hooked.

    @neems go into the settings and turn down the aim smoothing to 20-30. It'll feel immediately better.

    @Duffking

    Not for me Duff, if anything I find it better with higher smoothing. I seem to go from stock still to 'jesus fuck' all over the shop, I can't get any fine control.

    Despite that I am actually really enjoying it. I must confess I'm playing on the lowest difficulty - I started on normal, and it's not like I was getting hammered or anything, but it was taking me forever to kill anything just because I'm so fucking inept.

    Bizarrely I am enjoying it more than on PC - that mysterious Switch effect again.

    Just tried it on the telly for the first time, and it looks pretty decent, pleasantly surprised.

    I also just failed the first rune trial 5 times in a row.

    I spent a bit more time with Cat Quest and I'm really enjoying it. The quests are your basic, go here, kill everything, go back, get reward. Everything is a cat pun. The combat is great; it looks just like your standard taptaptaptap hack n' slash which it really is, but using the roll button at the right time, and using the correct spells is key. I really like the loot system, you get your pick from standard loot, mage, ranger, knight armour etc and the more copies of it you find the more you upgrade what you have. The quests are bitesize so it's the ideal game to play if you can only grab a few minutes here and there, which at the moment makes it a good companion to Mario which is fighting for my attention.

    It's priced well for what you get, I don't know if I'd have been happy paying much more for it, maybe an extra fiver I'd have been OK with. I guess we'll see how long it is.

    +1 My wife thought this looked cute. Doom she was less attracted to.

    There's demo of Cat Quest on Steam. I thought it was nice enough, but it clearly is a mobile game (where it costs 60% less, btw.). Didn't buy it in the end on any platform.

    This is a fair point. It definitely has that mobile game feel, and why I suppose it is better in quick bursts, you couldn't have too long a session with it. I have no idea how the combat would work on a mobile device without buttons though, it must be tricky to say the least.

    I've properly convinced myself to stay away from Doom until it's much cheaper now. Only because i'm about to spend big on Rocket League and Pinball FX. :rolleyes:

    Is it worth getting a Switch-specific thread ready for either of those games? Just for coordinating online games and adding friends for the leaderboards and such?

    Edit - Or we could just move the Rocket League thread out of the PS4 section, seeing as it's super-multi-platform now.

    @DangerousDave_87

    There's no Pinball FX 3 thread as far as I can see so we should probably have one. It's multi-plat so it'd be better in general gaming. Excalibur high score, here I come!
