What a faff! When I stumble on a cluster of things to mine I whip out my trusty hammer. :)
    I keep breaking mine.

Use a blunt weapon on rocks.

Just saw a genius tip for treasure hunting. Once you have the camera and snap a photo of a chest you can hunt for them on the slate obvious maybe, but so logical that it's often the kind of thing overlooked.

I'd have thought an iron warhammer would be fairly blunt, but apparently not.

You'll find a hammer before too long, keep it aside for rocks but bombs never run out of course but can be a bit more messy.

Oh or maybe you have ;)

IIRC, you get a quest that teaches you that when you go to Hateno and receive that skill.

@ChiefGB the constant beeping will drive you mental if you do that. Its bad enough when you are near a shrine.

Fucking Eventide Island can fuck off for fuck's sake. Should come back when I've got some more hearts but I'm a fucking glutton for punishment

@elstoof I was there today! How many hearts do you have? I had 8. Managed to cook up a few recipes to increase that, but with the gear you get up top, you don't really need it. I would recommend saving your arrows for the Blue Hinox, too.

Speaking of which, if you're having trouble with the Blue Hinox, I discovered that you can remove his ankle armour. :D
  • Deleted user 19 March 2017 21:09:07
@elstoof it won't make much difference as you have no armour. My suggestion is to avoid fighting and just do bombing runs instead.
  • Deleted user 19 March 2017 21:09:39
    @DangerousDave_87 really m, how?

Eventide spoiler you dont need to fight the hinox. Glide on to his belly and nick the orb before he wakes up

@Graxlar_v2 I'll give you a hint. They're made of wood.

Frogofdoom has the best option, but what can I say? I like killing things.

Oh yes, I was aware of the mechanic, just hadn't considered applying it so literally.

I have used mine. Normally I bring him into play when I am about to go all out on enemies. Sometimes a bit of back up is helpful. But there is one thing I do not like about him.

Whereever I go afterwards the little blighter will kill anything nearby. I like to have a stock of ingedients but he is just all out on the decimation. It makes me feel guilty when I am trying to photograph some of the wild life and that I get a shot of a fox, with a Twilught Wolf running into shot followed by the thunk sound that means he has made his kill.
  • Deleted user 19 March 2017 21:17:31
    Mmm interesting:)

I run up the hill behind him and just chucked bomb after bomb at him. He would turn to face the bombs before trying to get to you so you could keep him in one place

I almost had him, one more hit and he'd have dropped. Unfortunately he trod on me first. Just a fucker that I spent another hour going through the rest of the island first.

I've put about 20 hours into this so far and just got the slate upgrade at the lab, but the game hasn't gripped me like I hoped it would. Seems to lack depth with no dungeons, there's a lot of travelling and talking to people, and the shrines are unfulfilling and rather easy. The towns are shallow and there's a lack of interesting characters. I'll keep persisting but at the moment it has played more like a 7/10 instead of a 10/10 and certainly isn't a patch on OoT which oozed magic and invested you into the game much more strongly.

@SuperCoolEskimo I disagree with most of your points there. I find the world in this game utterly compelling and whilst many of the early shrines were easy some of the shrines can be pretty tough especially if you go for some of the optional challenges.

It's been a while since I played OOT but even on the day it was released it was a bit clunky. I really enjoyed it at the time but I feel like this game is leagues ahead.
