Very enjoyable although the ending is really poor, won't say anything as I know a couple of guys who post in here are playing it at the moment. When I say poor, I mean reading online is very much a marmite ending, some loved it whilst others hated it.

Back to Final Fantasy IX and also doing The Journey on FIFA 18, went with Pro Evo last year so hadn't see it before and actually finding it quite compelling!

Nearly done on Virtue's Last Reward as well on Vita, should have Chaos;Child delivered this week so that'll be the game I go to after that.

    Titanfall 2

A really inventive and wonderful single player first person shooter. Really short, but in a way that works in the games favour, as nothing is wasted and everything feels new and interesting. I'm more inclined to replay it again too. Game is silky smooth and the games levels are designed round it's fun air to air movement. The cause and effect level is as good as I heard and I think will be talked about for years to come, definitely one of gaming's brightest moments.

Yet to try multiplayer, but single player is top notch. Alongside Doom, fps feel fresh and interesting again.

    34. Chaos;Head (PC) (12/10/17) (7.5/10)

Finished main story with a few extras to mop up. Fun follow-up to the previous games with an interesting story and characters overall.. A few of the minigames can be a bit annoying at times but it is well written and seems reasonably well translated (the spoken bits where I can compare to the Japanese voices anyway). Music is good and voice acting is mostly decent (Japanese dub as I did not try the English dub at all). Art remains stylish. Less 'fan-servicey'bits than DR2 which is a bonus. If you liked the earlier games it is worth playing. Seemed to take a lot more gametime than it felt like to go through.

I will finish off the character backstories then likely polish off Chaos;Head and I suppose I should preorder Chaos;Child which is out this week too.

Edit - added game 34 to save reprinting the whole list in the next post

    34. Chaos;Head (PC) (12/10/17) (7.5/10)

Finally finished off Chaos;Head (on my Linx tablet) after getting slowed down by text skip issues making the final playthrough take a lot longer. Got all 4 endings, bad, normal, true and 'secret bad' (yes, the most challenging NG+ only ending is actually a bad one even though it greatly expands the story).

The game is the first part of 5pb's Science Adventure series (think Steins;Gate). This visual novel is a murder mystery/sci fi conspiracy story with the themes of delusions and reality. Your choice triggers (about 40 to 50 of them approx) are choosing whether to have a positive or negative delusion or neither. For most things the choices are purely different scenes but some matter for the secret ending on NG+. The main character is really dislikable (paranoid semi-hikkikomori otaku) through most of the game but you do get some other character points of view. Story is a lot weaker than SG bit has some interesting angles of its own even if it does feel a lot less grounded in reality than SG. It was worth playing though although I wish I had access to the apparently vastly expanded Japanese console only Chaos;Head Noah. Loose sequel Chaos;Child comes out this week on Vita and PS4.

I'm not going to hit 52... late update, done some repeats in the meantime and there are some games on the go I should finish.

    01 Final Fantasy XV (03/01/2017) PS4
    02 Uncharted 4: A Thief's End (12/01/2017) PS4
    03 Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (12/01/2017) PS4
04 Final Fantasy XIV Patch 3.5 (Part 1): The Far Edge of Fate (19/01/2017) PC
    05 Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (22/01/2017) PS4
    06 Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (29/01/2017) PS4
    07 Mass Effect (05/03/2017) PC
08 Final Fantasy XIV Patch 3.5 (Part 2): The Far Edge of Fate (28/03/2017) PC
09 Mass Effect: Andromeda (13/05/2017) PC
10 Life is Strange: Episode 2 (19/05/2017) PC
11 Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood (19/06/2017) PC
12 Final Fantasy XIV Patch 4.1: The Legend Returns (11/10/2017) PC

Great story patch, which makes a change from the other immediate post-expansion updates. Really excellent solo instance with a previous boss, that nicely explores the balance between the main character being able to best these gods, and saving others from being enthralled by them. Also - IVALICE. Well, Rabanastre, at the very least, in the new 24-man raid. Good mix of FF Tactics and FFXII cameos and 2 more stages due.

    35. Steins;Gate 8 Bit (PC) (13/10/17) (7/10)

Finished Steins;Gate 8 Bit Henikuukan no Octet on my Linx tablet. An odd non-canon spin off text adventure (with pictures) of both Steins;Gate and Chaos;Head designed to replicate various Japanese 8 bit PC limitations (mainly in music and graphics and you can choose between several models). The game is pretty small with around 20ish locations and the parser is simple (and I did have to use a guide for one puzzle and needed to know Chaos;Head well for the final one). I really liked the 8 bit artstyle as it reminded me of an alternate take on the old UK text adventures (with pics) right down to the slow drawing (skippable). The chip music is really cool rendition of SG tunes too (with one system being really lowspec soundwise). Story was silly but had lots of nice nods to both games and some cool moments. The game is not for everyone (there is a reasonable English patch available (with the odd mistake in)) but it got highish marks for combining both nostalgia and SG/CH.

Bloody great little title and I'm so glad it was given out through Gold because more people deserve to check this one out. Has a vibe like Stranger Things and does such a good job of making conversations flow and dialogue choices feel natural that it deserves replication throughout. 10/10

    #28 Battlefield 1
The story to this one felt like it was going to be interesting at first but quickly became as trite as you might expect from a big studio. Some nice touches with regards to the introduction mission, the general tone and the use of carrier pigeons but nothing truly outstanding. I love how much they mined from WWI that works well in a combat game but it still feels a bit gauche. 7/10

    #29 Trials: Fusion
There's so much here that I'm far from done with it but I cut through the single player content and even managed a few of the extreme courses. 8/10

    #30 The Solus Project
Fucking game has an achievement that's bugged, leaving my final total score at 977. I know that's not really a big deal but there's something about my gamerscore no longer sitting on an even number that gently infuriates me. Also, you have to work way too hard to get your head round the narrative it tells. 4/10

    #31 Hitman: Prologue
Jumped on this because it was given out for free and now I can't wait to explore the rest of the game. Great systems on display already. 7/10

Decide to try this out after getting it on PSPlus. I have barely played the first game but liked the setting for this so went here first. Story and atmosphere (set in 1899 London) are pretty good although gameplay is pretty much a (fast) walking (with jumping etc) simulator with puzzles and some enemies later on. I enjoyed the story and characters enough to override the simplish gameplay though. Graphics are okay for the time but not up to modern stabdards like EgttR by the same dev. Might play prequel when I get free evening time this month.

Currently playing Trails in the Sky SC and waiting for Chaos;Child to arrive in the post.

Usual Naughty Dog brilliance, with only a couple of sweary indignant moments for me. Still canít believe itís taken me since release date to complete it, though Iím going to blame part of that on a new relationship. Ahem.

Thereís no way Iím going to get to 30 now (over 25 will be great!), so looks like Iím gonna try a few shorter ones. Or be less crap at gaming. Hmmmm ....

    17/10/17 - Yono & The Celestial Elephants (7/10)
    17/10/17 - FIFA 18 (Switch) - 8/10

My first completions for a couple of months. I've been gaming loads recently but not really on games that have an ending.

Yono is a very cute, moderately challenging puzzle adventure. It's short and I really enjoyed it. However, it has some rough edges and doesn't do enough to warrant more than 7/10. It's perfectly competent but nothing new. One to get when it's on sale.

I'm enjoying the Switch version of FIFA 18 quite a bit. After about 50 single player matches I can say that it's been a worthwhile purchase. I wouldn't get it unless you plan to go big on the single player aspect and value its portability.

About 11 weeks left of 2017. Which games are you planning or hoping to complete before 2018 arrives? I reckon I'll manage Mario Odyssey, Fire Emblem Warriors (if I buy it) and perhaps a couple of short indie games on the Switch.

No doubt Iíll round off with the half dozen eShop games I have for the Switch, Mario of course, got some PS4 titles nearly wrapped as well and Iím sure one or two of the hundreds of games in the Steam backlog will fall. Low 40s complete by the end Iíd imagine. Mid 40s at best.

Not a bad effort if I get there. :)

Iíll definitely be finishing Zelda, was hoping to have it wrapped up by the time Mario came out but with 19 shrines, a divine beast and the boss to do with precious little free time that seems like a tall order.

Especially with Life is Strange episode 2 out tomorrow. Iíll be playing through all episodes as soon as they hit.

After that, lots of Mario so whether I finish that largely depends on how big it ends up being, Sonic Forces because I hate myself, and any other free time will be spent on Persona 5 as Iíve managed to get through a whole two palaces despite having it since launch.

Aiming to finish both Final Fantasy IX and Skyrim on PS4, two big games so quite a big ask. Also will add FIFA 18 to the list once I've got through it's story mode type thing.

This is with Mario Odyssey coming out as well so hmmmm we'll see.

Started Chaos;Child on PSVita but can't see me finishing that before the end of the year, hopefully gives me a decent start to next year though if I've got most done this year. Is it cheating? Fuck that!

This is my third year doing this and I got 37 games completed both first and second year - won't get near that this year but hopefully will hit 30. To be fair, I've played some fucking epics throughout this year in terms of hours - Persona 5 was 95 hours alone!

Ooooh, I guess I'll also be adding the second part of the Zelda DLC to my list. Won't be able to resist jumping right into that!

I am hoping to get through Chaos;Child (although I hear it is very long). I probably won't get through Trails in the Sky SC as it is my 'backup' game. Yomawari Midnight Shadows is another I plan to finish soon after getting it. I also need to polish off a few 'almost dones like Dragon Quest VII (stopped at the final dungeon after 100 hours of gameplay), Yakuza 0 (although not sure if I am even halfway through it yet) and a few oldies lile Tales of Graces f Future Arc.

Hopefully get a few SNES Classic games done too lile F-Zero and Castlevania IV. Maybe some of my upcoming LRG stuff too like Wonderboy and Night Trap (I don't expect it to be great but looks cheesy enough to be entertaining at least). Most of my other preorders are no chances (Etrian Odyssey V, Demon Gaze II etc). If I finish C;C I might look at some of the other VN stuff on Vita or Akiba's Beat.

@Humperfunk I count it from when I finish it as it is a) easier to keep track and b) encourages to actually finish stuff that is close to completion.

I also have done my fair share of long games this year with Tyranny, Persona 5, Yakuza 5, the two Nier games, Trails in the Sky FC and Tokyo Xanadu in the over 50 hrs (approx) category. The aforementioned 100 hours of DQ VII too... Danganronpa V3 and Star Ocean were fairly long too.

Edit - I also played a few dozen hour of Zelda BotW but that one is likely going to be for next year and haven't got the season pass yet.

I thought Chaos;Child was a typo. I had to look it up and see that it isn't. What an infuriating name for a game. I really can't stand it! 😀

@rice_sandwich Haha it's in the same series as similarly named Steins;Gate!

    @Humperfunk

Oh my god, that is awful. One game is bad enough.

I think i'm going to start including abandoned, uncompleted and endless games in my list, like a few of you have. There's no way i'm ever going to complete 52 games in a single year. Just playing 52 games in a single year is an achievement in itself!

I've actually created documents for all 3 years I've joined in with this thread and whilst it's interesting to look back at what I've completed in that time, it doesn't really paint an accurate picture of what I've played. Games like Rocket League, Animal Crossing and a couple of Dragon Quest games have never made my list, even though they probably make up 50% of my total gaming time in the past 3 years.

I think i'll start ordering them from the date I start playing them first, just to keep some order, and will update the list for those I do eventually complete. It sounds like a bit of an effort, but i'm a sucker for lists! :-P

A good idea. I'll probably include The Binding of Isaac on Switch before the end of year as I can't stop playing it. I doubt I'll ever 100% it and get every achievement as there are hundreds of them!

I included Rocket League when I got the Platinum trophy but yeah, games like Battlefront I have never included despite sinking in shit loads of time into it. Plan to this year though so fuck it!

I chalked Animal Crossing off as complete when I had a fully extended house and was debt free.

I don't really play endless stuff so I am okay. I don't put games I gave upon either but I rarely give up on games to be honest. I like my game sto have someform of winstate whether it is a story ending or taking over the world inthe likes of Civ or Total War. For Binding of Isaac I would probably mark it finished if I unlocked all of the characters and got to each of the endings. I am nowhere near achieving that though ;)

@rice_sandwich (rice;sandwich? ;) ), did you miss Chaos;Head and Steins;Gate 8bit on my list ;)?There is also the Japanese only Robotics;Note and spinoffs like the upcoming Occultic;Nine coming too. And a few sequels and updates. They do love their semicolon in the SciAdv series.
