Been waiting for it to come down in price and for the equivalent of a tenner in the US PSN sale, was all over it.

Blasted through it in about a week and was great fun. Feel it could have done with a bit more signposting in some areas but overall really good.

Now main game is the almighty Skyrim whilst still dabbling in Everybody's Golf.

And finally finished TitS FC after an extended break halfway through. Played through handheld on my Linx Vision tablet which really suits the game. A little slow to start but fun coming of age jrpg that extends into bigger problems. Writing is pretty good and it looks quite pretty for what is effectively a decade old game. Music is usual good Falcon stuff. Story is interestingly and well-paced with its mysteries slowly unfolding. Battle system is nicely started with its orbment system. Glad I don't have the years long wait some people did after hitting the cliffhanger as I bought SC a few days ago ready to continue.

Will finish off Chaos;Head next I think...

#36 Neurovoider, switch. Done about 10 runs and have yet to actually complete it. The core game-play is great. You can pick a robot class and customise it. Runs well as a twin stick shooter and is great fun. The music is excellent. However, every five levels, you have to fight a boss. The difficulty spike is immense and it's just not fun. I cannot recommend it because of this.
#37 Mario and Rabbit Kingdom Battles, Switch. Great stuff. Can't wait for the sequel. Hopefully it'll have a skirmish mode and an editor. Probably GOTY so far.
#38 You Must Build A Boat, Android. Excellent match 3 game.
#39 Onirim, Android. Decent version of the solo card game.
#40 SpacePlan, Android. Great clicker sci fi mash up that doesn't require a lot of clicking.

Very much enjoyed this, and am actually glad it wasn't packed with quite as much as content as Yakuza O (which I spent over 80 hours on, compared with about 37 hours on this). I haven't done all the sub-stories but feel I've done all I want to now. Semi-tempted to move straight on to Yakuza 2 on PS2 to continue the story but don't want to suffer a Yakuza burn-out so I think I'll play something different inbetween.

    30.5 Episode 5 (17/9/17) (8/10)
    30.X WD:NF Overall (7.5/10)

More of the same with Telltale. Seemed a little shorter than some but story hooks worked well enough so far. New face shading technique is a little odd ;)

Edit - Finished EPs 2 and 3. Story is interesting but cursor speed issues on PC (too fast with pad and too slow with mouse) led to retries I shouldn't have needed. EP 3 also had some nasty distracting polygon glitches which I have docked a point for. Bought the set on recent sale so happy for what I have paid so far. I am curious if any of my 'options' actually make any plot difference as the eps are short (about 5.5 hrs with some retries for the cursor issue for all 3 EPs so far)

EP 4 seemed to skip the bugs of EP 3 and no fast cursor bits to kill me off. Story was interesting and at least seemed like it had choices even if it is probably a facade. One more Ep to go...

Edit 2 - finished final episode. No issues like EP 3 and the story was decent enough although as usual I wonder how changable the story is with the decisions. Overall for the season it was nice to see a different approach with the new family being the main characters and Clementine's story being a concurrent side/back story. It was worth the 6 quid I paid for the season and I am curious what they do for the final season next year (but more curious about TWAU season 2). Season was quite short at probably 8 hours total.

Love this game and so good to play it again. The addition of the flow chart from VLR takes away the frustration of having to complete rooms multiple times too so definitely the definitive version.

Straight onto VLR I think, may as well continue the story!

77 hours later and with 64%of trophies I finished my first run and true ending with epilogue complete. Need a second playthrough for platinum but leaving that for now. Took a bit longer as I wanted to S rank every dungeon and tried to max everything I could in one playthrough.

As to the game it is a fun action RPG by Falcom with real world conversation/socialising sections and action rpg dungeons (teams of 3). The game is nicely split into chapters and I enjoyed where the story ended up even if it wasn't the most original plot. I liked most of the characters too and voice acting is mostly decent (Japanese dub only) (I didn't like Towa's voice...). Gameplay does involve jumping in the dungeon exploration amd matching elemental weaknesses to maximise score (all dungeons can be replayed as often as you want). Combat is fast and fun although a bit easy on Normal. Music is very good too. Has some optional minigames too like skateboarding and the addictive Gates of Avalon card game.

The bad point is the localisation. It mostly seems well translated bar a few 'that person/that day' type repetitions for the first 80% or so but there are many typos, missing words and silly errors (wrong gender being used, characters with multiple name spellings) and the game clearly needed another English editing run (everything is pretty understandable though if you can forgive the nunerous errors). There are a couple of untranslated bits bit only one is likely to bother people (a small generic boss speech that is unsubtitled but doesn't say anything too important really). I will stick with the 9/10 despite this though as I just enjoyed playing it. The game is out soon in an Ex+ version for PS4 and PC if you want a more complete game or don't have a Vita. It runs smoothly enough for me on Vita and looks sharp.

Next for me is Danganronpa v3 when it arrives...

    Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle.

A very charming game, that offers a nice and comfortable, although at times challenging (although not so difficult) tactical turn based game, with some nice fun exploration in between stages.

It's quite lengthy - completion time coming in at 30-35 hours to complete the main game, and it just about felt fresh all the way through, last world i got a bit eager to complete it, but i have that with most games. Got a few collectibles and challenges left to do which i will do as a side to playing other games. The graphics are great, soundtrack delightful, and the presentation .. well not amazing but does the job and makes things easy to read and accessible.

    Witcher 3 PC

First off the game looks outstanding, played the majority on a plasma/1440p monitor and thought it looked gorgeous. Bought a new 4k OLED I don't think I've seen a game so far with so much attention to detail simply beautiful. The writing is better than any other game and the voice acting is also top notch. The only downside is the combat is repetitive and quite dull which is a shame but I couldn't give it any less that a 10 overall. Didn't want the game to end but I've got the all the DLC to look forward to now!

    10/10

Played through Star Fox 2 on the SNES classic on normal and finished with a C on my first go. I will replay on higher difficulties later but it counts as a complete for me. Normal was very easy though. Game is like a simplified Carrier Command with a map with realtime action strategy but then flying into an 'instant' battlefield, whether a missile defence, a dogfight, taking down an enemy carrier etc. Graphics are obviously aged but I liked the style and reminded me of old Spectrum and Amiga space shooty games like Starstrike 2 and Starglider. Frame rate not the smoothest but it honestly didn't bother me too much. All the level types were pretty fun including the bosses. The walker was an interesting addition.

Main game is now Danganronpa v3 although making slow progress and only up to the first trial. Will likely do a few shorter games to build up my numbers too like Star Fox, F-Zero, Super Castlevania IV or Super Metroid.

How are some of you chaps getting through so many games, do you actually enjoy them ? or just play as quick as possible from the start until the end ? Don't you have partners, jobs, children etc etc ;)

I'm on 16 games at the moment, might rise to 20 odd completed by the end of the year.

It is not even as if I have another hobby taking up the time. Bloody life getting in the way of gaming :)

Serious answer to your question though, I have a full time job and a partner who lives with me but still manage to get 2 or 3 hours of gaming in on week nights (helps that she enjoys gaming as well) and bit more over the weekends when we don't have plans.

Most of the games I've been playing this year have been relatively short ones (less than 8 hours, some really short 2 or 3 hour games too) and a lot of them are on handhelds or mobile so I'm able to play on the commute to work. It's mainly just fitting in gaming time when I can.

A lot of mine are handheld. Letting my wife go to most social invitations while I babysit also helps. I try to get as much put of each game as I can within reason. I attempt all sidequests etc although occasionally tire of it. I don't usually go for platinum trophies unless they are resonable to achieve. I also have a lot of short games mixed among my rpg monsters.

And yeah life does get in the way. Watching tv stuff with the wife and days out with the family etc do get in the way of gaming time ;). I have yet to get near the 52 in this 'challenge' although a few more SNES mini games may help as I can play them in the day when my son is up unlike the likes of Mafia or Yakuza.

Edit - I also don't bother with online games as a rule which leaves a lot more free time for singleplayer stuff.

Like with May, I failed to complete a single game in September. A nice holiday got in the way, as did perhaps starting one too many games at the same time. I've got Picross and Steamworld Dig 2 on the go, but I managed to finish Vice City over the last couple of days.

As great as the soundtrack is (minus Wang Chung), the city just isn't as intricate as that in III. Also, the controls remain incredibly borked, which is as much a detriment to the experience now as it was then. I'm currently sitting on 99% complete and once i've got the Rampages out of the way, it'll become my 6th GTA game in which i've achieved 100%. The others being GTA 1, III, IV, V and Chinatown Wars.

I love (d) VC, due to no small part it's timeline and soundtrack. I'm a child of the eighties and adore the decade. I did rebuy on ps4 a few months back and I find it almost unplayable. The controls are arse, which actually seems to be an issue with a lot of Rockstar games.

I would love an upgrade/remake though, as along with REmake 2 this is the game I most want HD 'd

@DUFFMAN5 A remake would be fantastic. It wouldn't have to be all that big a project. Just modernise the controls and fix the frame rate/draw distance. I'd be happy with that. If you do ever dip back into the PS4 version, turn of the trails. Whilst on the PS2 it helped hide the dodgy frame rate, I found it actually slightly improves the frame rate on PS4. Very bizarre.
