I read a review on the Ks7000 that said the samsung tv can display hdr in game mode and that eurogamer were mixing up hdr with hdr+. Without hdr enabled it is 20ms input lag in game mode and with hdr enabled it was 22ms in game mode. Can anybody clarify?

No idea but you might find this article useful.

    http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2016-the-best-4k-screens-for-hdr-gaming

And do you seriously care about 2ms difference?

I think it's more a case that HDR mode can add a huge amount of input lag... 2ms on the other hand is negligible.

At least I hope that's what he means... If you're getting worked up over a 2ms difference, you really need to take a long hard look at yourself.

I can't, but if you read up on my review on JohnLewis.com about the KS8000, you'll stay well clear of this generation of Samsung tvs.

This article mentions that DF might have got the HDR support in game mode wrong.

I have teh KS8000, I like it (I don't use it for actual TV channels though so can't comment on that).

HDR over game mode seems fine at the moment, though I'll do more extensive testing once I have the PS4 Pro. It looks like EG was talking about HDR+.

Fucking hell, if someone can show me a telly that does full HDR with 22ms, I'd be wanking for coins down the docks to save up for it!

Hmmm. I'm starting to look too but the choices are staggering. They are narrowed down somewhat by the size I'm after (70" +) but there's still a lot of information to absorb :-(

Yeah I've been looking around and Samsung do seem to be the best at minimising the impact of turning hdr on, but 22ms?! Seems unrealistic...and expensive lol

I'm trying to find one too. The way I was looking at it was to have the telly to have the premium HD functionality (or the equivalent name for Sony TV's) because as usual, there's a million different types of hd

Found one that would be perfect but unknown input lag and it's 1400 quid. Great start quaddy

KDR isn't the only problem. If you have a high input lag it'll affect everything you do, in all games.

Yeah high input lag is probably one of the only things that will make me want to stop playing a game, even if it's single player.

LG's 2016 OLED mid-range models (E6) seem to have 50ms lag in HDR mode.

@quadfather I've the KS8000 and it's a stunning TV. It does apparently does 22.6 ms in HDR Game mode. I've nothing to try it out on though until the PS4 Pro arrives. I think the 55" can be had for around £1800. What size are you looking at ?

Given he wanks for coins, quite a lot. Although  i see he has an offer for 27p already! ;-)

Not in the Standing Still Simulators it won't, wise guy.

£200 off that at John Lewis, but look at those reviews! 1.8/5 stars.

    Samsung UE55JU6800 (and the 50" and 60" varieties) 4k 8bit HDR and 25ms

EDIT: I must be mad, can't find anything related to gaming mode lag.

I'll try and find a technical source for this.

That sounds more promising. I'm looking at 55" and upwards

@brokenkey Well I did tons of research before I took the plunge. I got the 65" version but they are identical otherwise. I got a 6 year warranty thrown in as well from Richer Sounds. I've not had any issues with it so far.

Yeah, it's strange that the John Lewis reviews are all bad. I'd only heard good things before I bought mine (also 65").

I've got the KS8000 55". Here's a weird colour processing thing (not sure if it's the broadcast to blame, but it's not there on iplayer).

    https://youtu.be/0Mf8P0OJiKU (filmed in slo-mo on a Oneplus 3)

To reprise my JL.com review, my key gripes with the TV are that for the cost, it fails in a number of areas.

As a gaming TV, it's very capable. If you're sat dead in front of it, in gaming mode, it's great. But you don't have to be sat very far off centre before the colour washes out of the picture very quickly. If you're in a small room, close to the TV (7 feet), sitting in different seats on a 6 foot wide sofa will be enough to demonstrate this effect.

In order to avoid the worst of the screen-area-localised judder, I've now put the main inputs into Game mode (was on Cinema mode)- in this mode the TV's doing no processing on the picture at all, which mean's its just acting as a monitor, and the cheaper models should achieve the same effect.

The image quality (judder, other effects) seem to be dependent on the tv channel you're watching. We mostly watch Channel 4HD and BBC2HD , and its bad. ITV look good. DAVE SD) looks terrible. Turning up the smoothing processing results in videos which look like the mouth has been super-imposed onto the face (like those talking potato videos).

Alternate low-lag options can be found here:
    http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/input-lag

BTW: Has Quadfather got me on ignore?

Girlfriend got a bit nervous when I suggested popping in to Currys the other day - I actually needed a new mouse because I drowned mine in red wine, but she totally thought I was after a 4K TV. Definitely going to leave it for now personally, maybe if I've moved house then it will be a new year's present for myself.
