Some of the direct capture footage looks really impressive.
    Lots more over at GTPlanet.

It's better. The engines have got a nice whine to them but are still lacking a bit of grunt. Feedback feels a bit simple. Again though Nordschleife in the GT Subaru is great fun.

Took this last night. Not the best driving in the world.

Cheers. Now come on polyphony, make the VR mode more than just a couple of tracks.

I thought it felt reasonably good to play, not really a hardcore racer though. I think where it will always come up second best though is in the presentation, when compared to the likes of forza. They are much more involving and less sterile.

It was definitely growing on me last night. Would have liked a bit more response from the wheel on the lower end cars but the GT cars are great fun. Had a couple of goes with the pad and it seems very well done.

I can't get over how sterile and lifeless this feels compared to driveclub. Yes ones sim one not but dc just feels so much more alive, effects, sound, scenery it all is just such a step up in dc

@Bloobat 60fps though in GT Sports, that's got to take a toll somewhere.

I love the HUD, especially all the adjustments, and that frame rate is absolutely solid on a standard PS4.

Having a decent handling model makes a big difference as well.

I like the thing that tells you what gear the upcoming corner is. Great way of learning the track without having shitty arrows and guidelines plastered everywhere.

I agree it looks a bit sterile but there's also places where it edges on photorealism for me.

    @Fake_Blood I don't think that's a contradiction. :)

Regarding photorealism, the lighting in GT has always been incredible. Not just *sunlight*, but how things look in dull weather. It just looks real. Nothing in the genre comes close to GT in that respect. Certainly not Forza, which intentionally seems to go for a slightly cartoony look with its colours etc.

This can't be far away now for a full release surely?

It'll likely be released on some tactical date to compete with Microsoft or Nintendo.

The game feels pretty ready to me, although I expect/hope the pvp mechanics will be tuned right up to release day. Decision tree for making a player a ghost seems very random

@Decks That looks pretty amazing, apart from the PS1 style pop in on the rear view screen which needs work. Interest ignited.

Beta has turned into a bit of a non event for me as they managed to schedule the races against either F1, Champions League or Europa League.

@UncleLou Lighting does look good but it's not at DC's level.

Yes I know some of you guys prefer the 60fps but to me both games feel just as smooth probably owing to the fact DC is rock solid 30.

I just still find it incredible that i'm driving round nordschleife and there's so many 2d trees and just ps2 quality track-side detail. I guess I was just inspecting more, replays look great it's when your actually driving I find it most noticeable.

Also DC has an incredible handling model!

Try playing DriveClub on a wheel and you'll see how poor the handling model is.

Sim based games need to run at 60fps so the graphics will suffer, it's just the way it is.

Really? It's good but imo the physics engine is better in GTS you can feel the weight transfer. It's not at the same level as assetto corsa though. Not yet anyway.

Edit: yeah Decks right. A wheel on DC is unbearable. Built with a pad in mind.

@Nitrous yeh I don't disagree it was built for a pad, I couldn't use my wheel in dc anyway as Sony didn't support PS3 wheels but that's another discussion haha

I just feel pad wise it feels great and there's a real depth to the controls in dc especially on hardcore handling mode

Ok so the physics model isn't good enough to run on a wheel and it runs at half the frame rate. Which is why the graphics are better.

Drive Club is a good arcade style driving game, but sim style games have different priorities. The graphics in GT are fine and on par with other sim style 60fps racers on the consoles at the minute.

Yeah I'm actually surprised that Gran Turismo looks so good because in ways it's been lagging behind Forza in that department for a while. It's a shame it meant taking away day/night cycles and variable weather though.
