I didn't mind Prometheus. Not great, not terrible - hardly out of place for the later entries in the Alien franchise.

I was interested in their planned evolution of the xenomorph over the prequel films but it seem like they've cut all of that short and are just introducing them in Covenant, which I think is a bit of a shame.

Yeah, I'm happy to just see a new proper Alien film.

    Well, I just did.

The Alien franchise is Ripley's story, not the creature's. The creature itself isn't enough to base a film around.

The creature's creation/evolution is essentially the only interesting thing about the prequel trilogy. Otherwise you just have a sci-fi monster movie that's not going to live up to the first two regardless.

That's how you do a poster. Looking forward to this. Put me in the camp that didn't mind Prometheus.

Er, are you basically saying that it's not out of place because it's also total wank? ;)

I would argue that the story in Prometheus was terrible. I think I could back that assessment up fairly easily too.

Calling it incoherent would be far too kind.

Every single character besides David was a complete douchebag.

David "I don't give a fuck about your privacy, nice dreams sucker" David?
David "What if I spike your drink with Alien goo" David?

He was under orders and not a person but otherwise douchebag would seem to fit well...

Prometheus was an utterly awful film. One that actually gets worse with every subsequent viewing. My expectations and hopes are very low for Covenant.

The only redeeming feature of Prometheus is its production design, which is sumptuous. The rest was execrable. I give Fassbender a partial pass because at least his character was halfway interesting.

I kind of see your point, but David is forgiveable, a bit of a douch (under orders) but an interesting douche. The rest were just loathsome idiots.

Everyone knows you shouldn't run from a Xenomorph. The poster is giving out false information.

He was under orders to do something that made absolutely no sense.

I'm pretty sure it's a finger up the arse with a xenomorph.

Prometheus might have been OK if they'd got close to writing it before they started filming.

Instead it was a mess of loose ends and stupidity.

Prometheus was utter garbage, but the idea of trying to explain the alien ship from the first movie was a good one. That pisses me off even more, great idea, totally fucked up execution.

That would certainly be the main reason why I didn't mind it. I'm a sucker for good looking films, however dross they are. I can't remember a single piece of dialogue from the film but I remember how "sumptuous" it looked :)

I've a small collection of films that I really want to like, and thus watch about once every 6 months, after which I realise that it's utter, utter garbage and put it back on the shelf for another half-year.

Prometheus is right in there, between Terminator Genisys and Terminator Salvation.

The one Prometheus began and Covenant is no. 2 in.
