It looks like Ridley Scott's Prometheus sequel/Alien prequel is about to get started as sets have appeared in New Zealand.

Hopefully it's not yet more style over substance that Scott slips into all too often. Prometheus was just a hop and a skip away from the absolute plot vacuum that was Blade Runner.

A selection of stylish and beautiful scenes loosely strung together with nonsense excuses for said scenes.

Getting stoned to Bladerunner "back in the day" was the business. Getting stoned to Prometheus would lead to either sleep or laughing fits

Yeah, Prometheus was excrement. I watched it a few times to be certain, but I came to the conclusion that there is nothing about it that even warranted the first look.

Eh, I liked Prometheus. I agree about most of the flaws, but they didn't really take me out of the movie.

Hoping for less of a confused mess this time out. They at least know what film they're making this time it seems.

    Is Lindelof involved?

I must agree with this, really wanted to love the film (so much we bought it on blu Ray) but it just seemed confused, and had to many bits that just seemed to clash.

Just felt like they had messed with the story a few too many times, and confused themselves as to what the hell they were making.

Let's hope the next one gets back on track to something decent.

Prometheus was at least interesting, unlike the perpetually over rated Cameron film. Glad Scott has taken back the direction of the series, and definitely looking forward to the next one.

Nope. I think its brilliant. Granted, there are some terrible characters and some really dumb moments, but if you can get past those there's plenty to love. Such as a fucking giant monster vagina ffs. That's awesome!

Nope, but there's plenty more bad writers out there. And let's not forget that Scott wouldn't know a good script if he sat on it - his previous successes appear to have been based more on luck than judgement.

    Noomi Rapace isn't involved?

Also, it's being written by the guy who did The Green Lantern...

I appreciate that this is the internet and I appreciate that this is Eurogamer (home of the professionally offended and haters of all of life's joys).

    But FFS

Someone posts a link to a fan site which confirms production on something a lot of people will be interested in and what follows is "it'll be shit because..." and "You like Prometheus? Wrong"

Your jaws must get tired, holding that gun barrel in your month? But you need to keep your hands free to type, I guess. What's it going to take for you to pull the trigger?

And only on EG could someone complaining about the tone of a thread sign off a post with an entreat to suicide for fellow posters. I fucking love this place sometimes. :-D

You could keep posting, I guess.

(I jest, there's no room for a gun in this mouth, what with all these mod-cocks, ya know?)

Wind your neck in and get used to the fact that the things you enjoy may actually be objectively a bit shite.

If anything you come across as butt hurt as the things you have enjoyed have had scorn pouref on them from all corners for legitimate reasons.

    But suicide eh? Stay classy.

I do wonder sometime if there is anything you actually enjoy. ;-)

Seriously though I can run with some people not 'getting' Bladerunner, but it is a classic, paper thin plot included. Sometimes films can transcend issues like that.

Being hyper critical over basically everything I guess is your thing DB.

On a related note, I get where the Prometheus hate comes from, but its still reasonably enjoyable. Its the character decisions that let it down it the end.

Did no one tell Charlize Theron that you can actually run sideways as well?

I'm not hyper critical, I apparently have the ability few other people possess to see through bullshit and I don't want to be sucked into other people's delusions.

And Theron can run in any direction she likes, the problem was her ability to do so wasn't written into the script.

It's been moved forward to May, and there's Aliens in it (really this time).
