    Assuming you've tried forgetting the network, power-cycling both, etc?
    Reinitialise the console?

    Done all that, not going to initialise the console though.

    Next thing I'll try is resetting the router to default then putting the same password back in. I have to get someone else involved for that though.

    Bloody hell. Started playing No Mans Sky last night and within a minute, the PS4 pro sounded like an aircraft in flight.

    Why can't Sony put decent quiet fans in their consoles?

    Yay, lets over-exaggerate about this one again. Fuzzy'll be along shortly.

    Yeah, when I play NMS it goes off on one. Download version also so it's not the disc drive. Pretty much every other game is quiet

    I don't see how the PS4 pro is so loud when the xbone is virtually silent all the time.

    Just skimping on components to maximize profits then.

    Also the Pro has the HDMI handshaking issue that Sony don't seem to want admit exists.

    For a "premium" machine I expect better.

    Alternatively, let's just not discuss how poor the build quality of the Pro is.

    Mine runs hot and loud and unlike my original PS4 I can't use rest mode anymore which was an essential feature for me. I've purchased the premium version and in doing so have lost functionality.

    Sony should have had a better cooling system in a premium revision.

    Mine is also pretty vocal when running NMS now, esp when I pause and go to the PS4 menu, instantly sends the fan nuts.

    The update has some bugs you'd probably like to wait out too. Eg they've added new suit slot types to unlock at drop pods but for Cargo slots it just takes your money and does nothing.

    Mine behaves virtually identical to my old base models, which is mostly very quiet with the odd bit of whirr. 95% of the time, the tv drowns out everything. At no point do any of them sound like a jet engine or similar.

    I'm not saying they shouldn't be better. We've talked about it over and over and over and it's not making your machines quieter. If you want to be proactive about it, exchange it for another. It's a gamble but it's got a higher chance of resolution than forty posts about it here.

    My X1S actually has some fan noise - I hear it when watching films. I know it's an oddity and likely due to the set-up of my tv bench more than anything.

    My Xbox One would wipe the floor with my Pro in a noisiest fan competition. It's not that loud, just louder than the Pro. That's just my personal experience though, obviously I can't speak for anyone else.

    Resetting the router to default then reinstating the password has fixed the connection issue, hopefully it stays fixed...

    Ugh, seriously? It's tiresome to hear the same complaints all the time, but come on.

    @SomaticSense

    Yes. Does yours seriously sound like an aircraft, or is it just a bit annoying?

    I'm sure every statement has to be literal. It's kind of misleading when we're left thinking his tiny PS4 actually sounds like a jet engine.

    Next time just say "my console is imo unacceptably loud with a poor cooling solution".

    Guys, the fan isn't a problem if you stick your fingers in your ears and go "la la la la".

    I guess it depends how near you are to said aircraft.

    Morning chaps! :)

    I may or may not have mentioned it before, but my console is IMO unacceptably loud with a poor cooling solution.

    Anyone have a similar issue?

    This is probably a stupid question but I'm just going to plough ahead and ask anyway. Are there any issues using the same account across a ps4 and a pro? The plan being Thurs-Sunday night I'm at home on the pro, then Monday-Wednesday I'll be commuting to work from my dads so I'll be at his with the base ps4. With cloud saves and taking whatever game disc I need I can carry on the same game on the base ps4 easily right? or wrong?

    Right. No issues.

    With the caveat that whichever the secondary console is (assuming it's the base PS4 at your Dad's place) has to remain online to access your content, otherwise it sticks a wee padlock on it on the dash.

    Awesome, thank you!

    edit for less awesome. I hate to keep adding that this is a stupid question so by all means feel free to just take it as a given from here on in, do you mean it needs to be on, on or rest mode, hooked up etc?

    Are newer (more recently produced) versions of the PS4 Pro quieter?

    @vanDevious
    It just needs online access while you use it.
    I'd assume you'll have it otherwise you can't download the cloud saves.

    @vanDevious My previous post was a touch ambiguous - you need to be logged into your account online, ergo you need to have a stead connection.

    Doesn't matter what you're at when not playing it :)

    @Syrette
    There aren't any Pro revisions that I'm aware of, so it's something of a gamble.

    Even the upcoming white Destiny 2 Pro has the same model number as the launch ones, so I'd assume it's still a lottery.

    My launch one now makes a bit of noise even when it's sitting idle on the dash with nothing running. I've had it open and it's clean as a whistle inside. Sony really need to spend more that 13p on the fan in the PS5.

    Mine is pretty new, and it's been silent until this week when it sounds like it was going to take off playing Pyre. Which is hardly graphically intensive.

    Not sure it's anything to do with graphical intensity, assume it would be the CPU fan. Mine is silent when playing games but for some reason, in certain games, cranks up massively when in the pause menu. I've noticed this in more than one game, most recently Horizon in the map screen. Almost completely silent during gameplay though.
