    @RobAnybody

    That's true. I forgot about that. The game is so fast paced that I'm blowing through it at a very rapid rate. I reckon I'll be done with the story in another week.

    If I remember its gets a whole lot easier after levelling it up a bit with buffs.

    Can't work out why peeps are having a problem with fishing. It's a piece of piss.

    Fishing i tap and end up overshooting the area you're supposed to keep in. So i stop tapping and the area I'm controlling plummets and the fish gets to escape. Just can't seem to do it.

    Same on the fishing. I find it incredibly easy. Just feather the Y button and hold it down for a bit longer if you really need to raise it a lot. Try and keep the fish at the top of the bar as it's quicker to drop it than it is to raise it.

    Yes, the story ends after 2 years but you can play on indefinitely. I'm about 20 hours in and half way through the story and the various achievements. I reckon I'll stop once the story ends.

    Really? The story ends that quick? I've hardly touched the story or even town side of things, so I'm probably missing things in that case. That's a shame.

    The story in all Harvest Moon and Story of Seasons games typically lasts only a couple of years. At least with Stardew Valley there is a more cohesive story rather than just a loose narrative behind getting married, befriending the locals to see all the cut scenes and building a mega farm / growing and shipping all crops, special items recipes, craft items, unlocking all secrets etc. Those things turn it into a 100+ hour game.

    Edit:
    You can't miss anything as festivals repeat. I suppose there isn't an involved story as in rpg games, it's more a collection of events and other things. Talking to the locals uncovers quite a lot of info once you get to know them. If you want a deep story play Rune Factory 4.

    Didn't know the story ended after 2 years. I just assumed the story progressed at your own pace whether that be 2 or 20 years. I'm half disappointed and half not arsed. More the latter as I'm really not paying attention to the story really and I'm just treating like an animal crossing type game.

    I'll be on the evil within 2 from tomorrow and then Odyssey so might not be playing it for a while anyway.

    As for game progress well I found a trident in a treasure chest when fishing that eats enemies in the mine alive.
    I bought the house extension and have enough for the coop now. Someone mentioned crafting a silo for grass but I can't see any option for that on my craft list.
    Also how do I level up my garden tools. Blacksmith just shows them all as copper and I can't work out how I get better than what I have.

    Build the silo at the carpenter. Scroll through the list to see all the buildings. You have to upgrade to copper first, then to the next level. You need iron ore.

    The 2 year story thing is a very minor detail that doesn't change anything. It's just that something happens at the start of year 3. You can take as long as you want to do everything in the game.

    The broken trident is amazing. I'm at level 85 in the mine and still beating monsters to a pulp with it. I binned all the others weapons I got as they're poor in comparison.

    Shame about the story. I'm nearly in winter and seemingly have done fuck all regarding the story

    @mangojoe

    It just means after 2 years a certain very minor thing happens which I suppose is the 'end'. There isn't an involved narrative and you can't miss out on anything. If you want to take years to do stuff it's totally fine and your experience of the game won't change at all.

    Planted a load of seeds down afew days ago (in game) and they've just shriveled up as the first day of summer arrived. Didn't know the seasons were that short :eek:

    I only knew that from this place. I'm only planting things in the early par of the season / month or ones that are for that season and the next.

    The game does tell you somewhere - I've read it. Might be a found book for the library though, so it's random when you'll see it, if at all.

    I learned about crops dying at the start of a new month the hard way in Harvest Moon on the Gameboy. I wouldn't bother planting seasonal crops in the last week.

    The calendar at Pierres that shows peoples birthday tells you how many days are in the season, and what day you're on now.

    But now you know, chalk it up to experience. :) Each season is 28 days in length.

    You've got to find them. Once you give them to the library you can read them.

    To find them you need to hoe the worms.

    That's a very organised crop. Mine is just a mismatch of everything and all lumped on one big patch lol. To be honest fishing is my main income so crops are just a bonus extra to keep me going.

    @Duffking You can put storage boxes and furnaces and stuff outside? I've been cluttering up my house with them.

    I also seem to have, by default, become a brewer of Beers and Pale Ales. It's netting me a nice steady income of around 2,000g each day with minimal effort.
