Had quite a good session ( 2 hours + ;) ) . Now got a furnace, a new chest for my ore stuff, a new back pack. Got to summer, where stupidly i've planted 6 x 9 patches of land which take an eternity to water. So saving up for a new watering can/ a couple of sprinklers. But i got some tomatoes, peppers, hops, melons, and a few more on the go.

I haven't gifted anything yet, other than some leeks to the old dude in the wheel chair. I think Penny likes books? but no body as really dropped an hint into what they like yet.

And i got rejected by all the ladies at the dance festival. True to life.

First day of Summer here. I saved up 7k, and spunked it all on seeds. Intention is to have my animals set by the end of summer, and then in autumn I'll get my greenhouse sorted.

@JoelStinty i think people will take almost any gift. I gave some flowers to people myself.

.... And I also got the cold shoulder at the dance. Even from the old dear and the blokes and kids! Utter waste of a day.

The key is to gift things on peoples' birthdays. If it's something they like, your friendship rating with them will shoot up.

Look out for worm patches. They're not just scenery.

Do you have to check in everyday on your veg and livestock?

pretty much. Except for when it is raining. I am not sure about livestock since i don't have any. But rainy days are good days.

Veg will need watering. Animals will need feeding.

Animals get grumpy and don't produced goods if you forget to feed them. Chickens are ok outside as long as there is grass. Indoors they need hay.

    Same :-(

But then i haven't got into the friendship side of the game yet, just been planting potatoes for the last 30 days.

Got the Backpack upgrade now so at least i don't have to ditch stuff in my chest at home (if people don't realise, you can build chests at home to store stuff with just wood).

Not sure what to do next, watering my plants basically takes most of my energy... need some metals for building things which i assume i get from mining but haven't done that yet

That's a bit of a bummer. Don't think I can commit to logging in every day to do some chores.

Oh. OH. No lad. We mean every day in the game. Not every day in real life. This isn't a mobile game.

Yup. The game has a strong lean on the day/night cycle, with plants taking x number of days to grow, and your energy replenishing overnight. So it's a game more about managing your stamina and the activities you do throughout the day without overexerting yourself.

It's a game that says "Whoa there, calm down, that can wait till tomorrow, it's ok buddy, here, pet a chicken".

    @CompetitiveDad

Yeah I couldn't be arsed with that either. The game just let's you progress at any pace and literally do what you want without you missing out on the core things. It will progress as you want it.

Cool. I'll get it downloaded along with Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime now.

I'm a sucker for reading people's enthusiasm in threads and parting with my cash!

Is that a multi player game or is there a single player game to it?

You can play SP but it supposedly shines as a couch co-op game mate. I've only breifly played it solo on PS4 but thought it would be a good laugh with family.

I like the sound of this game. How much challenge is there? Is it just a long grind to the top or is there scope to die of hunger / lose / balls up?

@lordofthedunce you can die in the mines all too easily. You can collapse from exhaustion. You can lose your crops.

That said, i guess you would struggle to lose everything (upgrades etc) and would just have to build up your money again.

By the way, this also has an element of leveling up different skills which is quite nifty.

If there's a downside to the game it's the winter season. Fishing and mining gets a little tedious.

I actually love the fishing and as of yet haven't tired of it and I'm mid way through summer. I just keep thinking of the cash money I get. I much prefer it to mining anyway.
Im a bit of a freak when it comes to fishing in games. It was my main pleasure in Animal crossing and fantasy life :)

I suppose winter is all about getting more money, doing upgrades to farm tools and infrastructure and socialising. I'm getting to the stage where money isn't a problem any more due to mining being very lucrative.

Looking forward to the point where I can get a wife in game. I plan on letting her run the farm whilst I split my time between the bar and extreme fishing.

If you're at Foraging Level 7 or higher you can craft Winter Seeds.
