    Why arenīt people going kwazy about this? Pretty much the only things wrong with the Morrowind was the (in places) pap graphics and decidedly weak combat system. If Bethesda can utilize even a bit of the 360's potential, this is going to be one sweet (and utterly time consuming) game.

    The combat sounds a lot like the sword combat in Thief 1 and 2.

    Not raving about it just yet as it's still yonks off.

    Well, I'm pretty damn excited about it.

    As well as the screenshots being fecking amazing, the combat does sound far better, the stealth is much more developed (apparently), and it seems you can actually succeed specialising in magic this time...which is nice. But perhaps most interesting of all is the 'radiant AI' of the NPCs...though I've no idea how they can implement it without some seriously buggy behaviour going on.

    Ever since I saw the old screeny of the deer in the forest I've been excited about this. With scenery like that it looks like I could just walk around exploring with a big grin on my face.
    A bugger that it's a year or so off.

    Actually, one of the best things for me about Morrowind was just wandering around, taking in the flora and fauna, discovering new ruins / citadels / tombs etc.

    It certainly was. Especially since there was so much fun stuff around the map. every tomb had it's special surprise!
    Like constantly having little adventures!

    Agreed on exploring being fun in Morrowind, but, y'know, with this engine I'm expecting even better sunsets and stars to look at :)

    Yesyesyes - I know that the demo they saw was running on a high-end PC, and that it was obviously only a demo - but Oblivion has just shot to 1st or 2nd place on my OMGWTF!!1!!-list.

    Especially the "random forrest" aspect appeals to me. Itīll hopefully mean that you get to explore a world that is (even if its just a bit) different from all your mates.

    For the record, even as a huge RPG fan, I didn't get on with Morrowind. It was really, really, really, REALLY slow.

    I hope Oblivion does more in the way of getting you started or I'll be steering well clear.

    Holy crap, that game looks amazing. As much as I loved Morrowind, it certainly had faults - like the magic path that urizen mentioned. I'll absolutely have to buy this...and an xbox 360 too, obviously.

    Pffft. if it's anything like Morrowind the pc version is the one to get. The modding possibilities were endless. Even only the official patches enriched the game.

    Addons are installed easier.

    There's no telling how extensive that stuff'll be used on the xbox360, especially with a measly 20 gb on that HD.

    Yep, that's true Mike but sadly I have no PC, so it's consoles or nothing. PC RPG's are always preferable...

    In my experience, 20 GB will hold a *lot* of mods - plus, the "addons are installed easier"-argument is bollox - things couldnīt be simpler with LIVE! :)

    Unless the PC version is radically better (which I doubt), I'll be getting the X360 one. Imagine spending days and weeks exploring the gameworld - all from the comfort of your sofa/bed!

    Great link there. My inner graphics whore is fully satisfied. A couple of new goodies in the article too - I particularly liked the squashed kobolds.

    I share Gamespy's scepticism about how well the AI will work in the final game, but if they do...can't wait.

    I know what you mean. Oblivion is just about the only next gen game I'm currently interested in, and I'll likely get a 360 as soon as it's out.

    Taking of which, does anyone know what Oblivion's scheduled release date is?
