Louis C.K's new special - "Hilarious" - was on Epix last night in the US, so it's on the torrent sites now (I know it isn't cool, but if there was a way to watch or buy it legally here I'd have done it already and I'm such a fan I can't wait for Ricky Gervais to twist Channel 4's arm or a DVD company to buy another job lot of locally obscure stand-up rights from the US). It's definitely, definitely his best yet. Looks so fucking good too, you can tell that a lot of work went into making it look this good. I'm not going to say it's the best thing in history or whatever - anyone who's seen it will know why - but in terms of stand-up specials, it could be one of the all-time greats. Like, alongside the best of Carlin or Bill Cosby's "Himself", that kind of good.

Saw Tom Stade last night and he was fantastic and a really nice guy; offered me a few minutes before him but I was too nervous.
Him, Frankie Boyle and some chap whose name I forget have a show on C4 soon.

Slightly related note: I saw Frankie a few months ago and his show was good to start but got so samey.

I saw Tony Law a little while back. Was great.

I also played Fifa on occasion with Josh Widdicombe.

Had no idea Amstell was a good stand-up comedian.

I saw Amstell a few years back. It was odd. A bit funny in places, but nothing incredibly hilarious, but it was a very different side to him, a lot more open and almost vulnerable than his persona on Buzzcocks. Enjoyable as a show but not a fantastically funny one.

I watched Simon Amstell once on TV he was total and utter wank and it ruined my fond memories of his tenure on Buzzcocks

Saw him last tuesday, he was good. I felt kind of bad for him though as it was in a very small venue and all the other comedians were total horseshit, bar one Australian guy. It's usually a good place to go, but that night really stank.

    From b3ta:

    Stand-up comedian and long-time b3tan Andrew
O'Neill is celebrating getting on telly (Never
Mind The Buzzcocks) by giving away his entire
last show for FREE, in the hope that you go and
see him doing his new show on tour next year.
That seems like a reasonable trade, no?

    meh, probably for the young

Jim Jeffries was the best live show I've seen recently. Just truly awful some of the stuff he was saying. Going to see Kevin Bridges on Thursday which I'm kind of looking forward to.

Has anyone mentioned the long-running genius that is Stewart Lee? What an utter legend!

    Gilbert Gottfried.

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

There's a young Australian chap by the name of Sammy J who does a great stand-up act with a puppet called Randy (controlled by a hidden puppeteer). Saw the act during the summer in Dublin and loved it. Very funny stuff.

They had Mickey Flanagans Out Out DVD on 4seven this weekend, well worth checking out if you haven't seen it yet. They will probably be repeating it over christmas.

Anyone missing Bill Hicks should watch this interview, it's excellent. He's very relaxed, for once.

He even talks about breaking in the UK (at about 18mins).

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

I quite like Paul Foot. My favourite is either Bernard Manning or George Carlin. Very different, but both were masters of their respective styles.

@localnotail The interviewer seems pretty stoned.

You are a factory of sadness.

I saw Paul Foot a while ago and thought he was absolutely terrible.

    ---------------------------------------------------------
    He totally called it

@Mr_Sleep Entirely possible. Or maybe he's just a very mellow dude.

Saw his latest a while ago, going to see him again this month. Not only hilarious, but an actual genius.

Saw Greg Davies, again, a couple of weeks ago. He's definitely a great stand-up. Everything is about his recollections and he's got such a warm manner you can't help but enjoy it.

Saw Bill Bailey about 6 weeks ago in Bournemouth, I had cramp in face from the continuous laughing, left there exhausted, a true comic genius and very talented musician.

Ross Noble's Nobleism is a pound in pound land just now.

Used to love him, but I held back as he gets my my wick now for some reason.
