    I forgot about the second fairground boss...it was so oddly moving. I wish they took that approach to a lot of the other bosses.

    Such a good game.

    @Ror Aye 9s is the weakest playable character and there are some shit bits of his playthrough but towards the end of his campaign there are some reveals and it opens up the fucked up shit in route C... its wroth the struggle if you care about the story.

    @Graxlar_v2 I do, very much, but the story has been quite disappointing so far and I've struggled to stay engaged with it :( I really hope it picks up as it's not been a patch on the first so far IMO :(

    I am genuinely sad about it. I want to love it.

    @Ror
    The story really takes off in the final rout, but I'm kind of like you in I wanted to love this game but just couldn't. I just hated playing as 9S so much, and the devs really shove him down our throats despite being the weakest playable character (does not help that I was wanting to punch him in the face by end game either). Reading up on the DLC it even looks like one of the 3 arena's in it is even exclusive to him.

    Was I the only one who found the hacking minigame quite relaxing and overused it?

    i was quite happy with the hacking, apart from the occasional setup that did my head in....

    I don't mind the hacking myself. The gameplay isn't my issue - I generally enjoy it when I do play it - it's just that the story is so disjointed and unexplained. I was hoping for much more insight in Route B, but there's been precious little so far :(

    Route B in the original game was fucking phenomenal.

    I think its intended as a juxtaposition. Route A is you hitting things, Route B is you literally getting into the mind of the things youre hitting, giving your actions in Route A a fresh perspective and Route C ties them both together.

    I suppose it either works for you or it doesnt.

    i'd agree route b of nier was awesome - automata tends to continue to drip little nuggets through its route b then take off in route c...

    hard to say which i prefer, tbh...its so long since i played the first...i missed weiss this time round...;)

    It seems a bit of a shame to have two full routes that feel a bit underwhelming re: story. And yeah, Weiss takes some living up to! Kaine, too. Automata just doesn't have anyone as likeable, for me.

    Hopefully I'll properly fall in love with this game in Route C, then.

    Yeah, I do like that 9S' hacking is used in some quests to quite literally peek inside people's heads. It feels like quite a Taro Yoko thing to do, to bleed a mechanic into the storytelling like that. Plus, it certainly has more utility than 2B's heavy attack :p

    That's mostly been in the side quests though, and it doesn't really feel like you get more perspective on the main story beats in Route B to me. It feels like a re-tread with tiny bits of extra info, like the fairground boss.

    EDIT Obviously that's all with the caveat that I'm still not finished with 9S's run. I am quite looking forward to the part where he gets separated from 2B.

    So I am done. \o/, bit of sadness involved and seeing the game delete all my shit was sickening.

    Onwards to the next game now :)

    What controls work for people?

    My natural inclination is to use a variation of Dark Souls... Right triggers for light and heavy attacks. Left triggers for fire and pod. Right stick for lock on and face buttons for action jump and evade.

    @Ror I agree route B is too long, it's too much of a retread of route A which already didn't set the world on fire. Stick with it though, there's some stuff at the end of route B, and then you get into route C and that is where all the setup begins to pay off.

    While there is no one as good as them, I did really like A2 when she finally starts getting screentime beyond a boss fight in rout C. Probably plays a big part in my feelings towards how much 9S there is. :lol:

    @TheDuskwalker Cheers. Everyone seems to agree that Route C is the high point, so I'll be looking forward to that. I just want to love it as much as the first game ;_;

    I thought C was supposed to be short? Fucks sake I just want to find out what's going on now. And the hacking is becoming an absolute fucking chore now.

    I ended up trading this last month. I was enjoying it until route c and the frustrating mini hacking got the better of me. Then I got a rare bug that caused my settings menu screen to be unreadable. Mixture of Japanese and double dutch.

    Glad I'm not the only one that thought hacking overstayed its welcome.

    Guys I'm trying to decide whether to get this on ps4 or pc. I read the latest patch on ps4 has screwed the framerate so can any of you check for me? It's currently on sale on PSN store so I'm tempted.

    12 hours in I had one frame rate issue and one crash. Apart from that ran really well

    Finally finished C. It was great but fuck me they dragged that out. I actually shouted "just fucking end' at the screen more than once.

    Will D and E just happen naturally if I keep playing or is there something I need to do?

    @Decks
    Just replay the final fight as the character you didn't select the first time using chapter select, and that's it.
