@geeza2020 she is indeed very tough. It is possible to summon an npc for the fight which really helps.

Edit, I see others have recommended the same. I think she mag be the only boss in all of Souls that I have not soloed.

Don't remember it being that hard. You're going to love one of the bosses in the other DLC.

That 3-stage DLC boss was hard but a really great fight. Like so many Souls bosses it has some moves that seem unfair and impossible to deal with at first, but you jut need to learn how to predict and respond to them. I manage to solo it eventually, but as the poster above says there's a FAR tougher boss in the 2nd DLC.

Well, I was talking about Darkeater Midir.

In other non-news, where's their next game?

He tore me a new arsehole the first few times.

I found DS3 really easy compared to the others though, so a hard boss in DS3 is nothing compared to first time Manus or Artorious. Rolling with light armour makes you pretty much invincible in DS3.

Midir was nails! An absolute tank.

Playing DS2 SotFS now, just been trolling Grave of Saints in the Rat covenant, and got my lightning twinblades. It's still my least favourite Souls game but it's not that bad I must admit.

Is there a Dark Souls thread? Can't find it.

Just started DS for the first time (Finished DS3 a while ago and then 2 recently). It's quite a bit more difficult so far! Partly 'cos of the controls, framerate and no teleport mechanic, but also because of the freedom to go anywhere. Even in the Undead Burg there are enemies that I can't even touch unless I get a critical.

It's wonderful though. Burg and Parish look great - a lot greener and sunnier than the later games. No teleporting really makes it feel more immersive and perilous; you get more of a sense of place being forced to explore. Reminds me of the first Tomb Raider in that sense.

I'll have to do Demons after this though, as doing the final DS3 DLC then going that far back might be a bit too jarring.

Good innit. You shouldn't really be struggling to kill things in Undead Burg though. What is your setup?

The first time you fight a Black Knight, or are unfortunate enough to come across Havel the Rock, can be quite rough, mind. :)

To be fair, on my first playthrough I could barely get out of Firelink alive so I'm talking out my arse.

@HarryPalmer If there is an enemy that seems to strong for you right now, either leave it/suicide run it or parry.

Parrying is alot easier in D1 as the window is much bigger

I used to regularly get firebombed to death in the undead burg.

That's after I learnt to go the right way at the beginning (graveyard)

Ta, I'm talking about the black knights and Havel in particular! Normal hollows are no problem.

I think the main issue is the controls feel just a bit different and less responsive, which may be clouding my judgment. The Master in DS3 is a bit of a dick too, for example.

Its definitely easier to parry though, which is nice.

Movement is a bit too easy in DS3, though I loved it too.

Getting the urge to play again..

I totally cheated all the times I've beaten Havel, and I'm not afraid to admit it.

    @HarryPalmer

For the black knight in undead burg, I'd clear the area out, then ping an arrow in his face to get his attention and lead him back to that slightly circular area (or even the larger area before it where there are 2 goons and a fire lobbing goon). You need the space so you can comfortably backstab him.

Same with Havel, but he tracks better.

Havel is nice and easy to parry, did you start as a thief or was your starting gift the master key?

I am looking forward to hearing all about your time in DS and getting the urge t roll again

never did the furysword. having to have high humanity at all times put me off a little bit.

Just a normal everyday Knight build. I have the Claymore, Axe and whatever that sword is you get for spamming arrows at the drake's tail. Just using the Broadsword though at the minute.

And yeah, chose the Master Key, seemed like that would be useful.

@HarryPalmer a little secret that always passes newbies by is that there is a starter blacksmith in new londo, he is quite handy at the beginning as he can upgrade your weapons to +5.

Tis a shame you didnt pick thief, by far the best starting class as you get the parry shield and the master key, this allows you to pick the old witch's ring (which imo is the best starting gift)

It's super slick and super fast. Not the most damaging but it's very nice to use, and super efficient at humanity and shard farming as it's a 1 hit kill for the slimes and rats etc, even early on. Yeah, you need to have the humanity, but it's not that bad - you only need 10.

It's great with the chaos spells added to boot, for which you have to have loads of humanity anyway.

might as well call it a humanity build :)

Also, 2 chaos shotels +10 humanity are fucking lethal.

    Edit @ Grax
