    I completed XCOM on Ironman on my first go.

    /buffs nails

    any rumours my entire squad bar my psionic soldier got wiped in one turn at the final room on the final mission and I needed two critical shotgun shots in one round to win the mission are entirely accurate as are the 20 minutes I spent pacing nervously around the house before I did it

    @urban

    XCOM Long War on Nexus: http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom/mods/88/

    Bit of a faff to get it working but once up and running it changes the game from the ground up. Be sure to play it on a fairly low difficulty, at least to start with as the difficulty really is something else compared to the base game.

    The game has crashed on me four times now at the final leg of the base defense. My old PS3 is really creaking...

    Does anyone know for certain if this is launching on Mac on the same release date? I've seen various websites claim it, but on Steam and the official website I'm failing to see acknowledgement of system specs.

    On February 5th, XCOM 2 will ignite a global resistance against our alien overlords… and Feral is in the vanguard.

    This Thursday the 28th of January at 6PM GMT, troops from our dev and QA barracks will livestream a spoiler-free hour of XCOM 2 on Linux. We’ll provide video commentary as we go, so beware of bickering, joshing, and highly articulate spluttering.

    Use #FeralPlays on Twitter to prep us with questions to answer during the livestream, then take aim at our Twitch channel or the video below to watch us dive head-on into a terrifying new cast of enemies.

    XCOM 2 is developed by Firaxis Games and will be brought to Mac and Linux by Feral Interactive.

    @urban Thanks, man. Now to decide whether I should download Enemy Within (completed Unknown on PS3 2 years ago) or just wait for this :)

    Enemy Within adds a lot of cool stuff, my favourite being the MEC troopers.

    Details here if you're interested.

    Well the more and more I read about Long War I think I've missed out in a big way so I can see my entire weekend being dedicated to that.

    Surprise good game!

    Well that's an arse ache. The Android version of XCom doesn't like Tegra chipsets, so my Shield K1 wont be able to purchase it from the store.

    I'm normally against side loading android games, but fucks sake, do me a favour.

    Anyone know of any cheap deals going on preorders? Shopto aren't really any cheaper than Steam and I usually use them for preorders.

    @Dirtbox ta, saying that, what is the deal with CD keys? Are they still a bit dodgy? That is a significant saving over the price elsewhere.

    they'll be retail keys from somewhere random as that's not region locked, so they should be ok, you will likely get the key on or after launch day

    As I feared, my crappy laptop will struggle to run the game :(

    I wonder whether my GE force 640m and my core i3 1.5 ghz will be able to run on low settings.

    Otherwise I must wait for the console version, if there is even going to be one :(

    So, I read that mod support from Long War devs is going to be implemented day one, nice touch Firaxis :)

    Anyone read the review yet on the front page? I see it got an "Essential" rating but I'm trying to avoid pretty much everything spoilery.

    Sounds very good.

    Not that spoilery a review really (YMMV).

    Bit the bullet and ordered via cdkeys just now... It was already on the list to check out later on in the year, but that front page review pushed me over the edge...

    Really hope they bring out a console version of the game at some point. To ease my pain, I bought EW in the sale at the weekend which I still haven't played :-)

    @Ironlungs_76

    The day one mod support is a new weapon, new enemy and the officer perk. Not sure if they will bring out a full mod as aren't they working on their own standalone defend earth from aliens game?

    Bollocks, just seen this on nuuvem for £16, eyes lit up and insta-purchased. Have since discovered it's steam region locked to South America. Any way round it or best to flog it on international eBay?

    The Long War mod makers are making their own game but they've also been contracted to make a long war mod for XCOM2, it will not be ready for launch

    @ram you'd be circumventing region locks if you used something like a VPN and I can't imagine Valve would like that, I'd go for buying it from somewhere like CD Keys.
