@AcidSnake I suppose you could get into a debate about what constitutes a short story (exact page number thresholds?), but it was definitely a stand-alone novel.

I bought a number of Philip K. Dick's books a while back. Some where collections of short stories, including the likes of Golden Man, Second Variety, and We can Remeber it for you Wholesale. Those examples have all been turned into films, but none were stand alone books. Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep wasn't the length of War and Peace, but it is a full length stand-alone novel.

As for Deckard's humanity, he gives himself the empathy test a number of times, and in the police station I think there was a moment as the reader where you think he is an android, until as you say, you find out the police themselves are all Nexus models. My memory may be fuzzy though....? Either way, he is definitely human :-)

The empathy test given to him at the fake police station, which was set up by the Replicants to protect their kind when they escape and come to earth, but the test is a different test to the Voigt-Kampff, called the Baneli Test, which doesn't really work.

He escapes with another Bounty Hunter who works at the police station who realises he is the only real human in the station (Deckard proves to him that the station is full of Replicants and suspects him of being one as well, but doesn't say).

Its a great book. I was concerned about spoilers, but the book was written like 50 years ago, so well... :)

They should just remake the first one again with an all female cast.

Hopefully this isn't out the same week as Salt 2

    @Pierre2k:

No need for a debate about that, I just remember it not being very long :)

It has really been a long time anyway and I don't remember the parts where he makes himself take the test...
Still the book considered him human whereas the film (director's cut) almost certainly made him a skinjob...

That would be awesome. I would definitely have a go on that given half a chance.

    That's lovely to hear.

Maybe Melissa McCarthy could be a bungling partner to Deckard (played by Shia TheBeef)

Is "half a chance" when you stick it in while you're waiting for a definitive yes/no?

My being able to tell the difference between a film with great visuals and a great story and a film that is nothing but great visuals with a bunch of excuses to string the visuals together doesn't make me a cunt. It makes you a gullible moron.
Yeah, I think Blade runners a beautiful film and I do enjoy it but there is alot of fans that seem to put depth in it that I don't think is necessarily there.

It's basically about a cop trying to stop killer robots. And he fuck a robot. It's about fucking and killing robots. That could actually be a good subtitle for the new move.

Blade Runner: fucking and killing robots

I don't think its shit but its not that deep. It's a pretty standard sort of hard-boiled story but its the setting and world building (a large part of which is thanks to the stunning visuals) that elevate it to a classic status.

It's a visual film as opposed to a narrative one. Many are. Terence Malick has made a career out of it. So did Kubrick to some extent.

It's ok for that type of film to not be your preference. It's probably not ok for you to think that makes you somehow superior to those who do enjoy those films.

I have come to the conclusion that Dirtbox is just anti opinion, like anti matter everything has its opposite in the universe. Dirtbox's opinions are just the opposite to everyone else.

You must think that Battlefield Earth is the best film ever made or something. ;-)
