    I just had my first real hardware scare. My right Joy Con seemingly died. It just wouldn't come to life. I thought, perhaps it hasn't charged properly, so connected it to the console. Nothing. I tried syncing it to the console. Nothing.

    I'm not sure what happened, but after a few minutes it just came back to life on it's own accord. It has a full charge, too, so the Switch tells me.

    :/

    Both of mine do that. Especially, for some reason, when going to or from the dock. Sync is lost with monotonous regularity.

    That's a first for me. I did notice that this morning the Switch wasn't sitting in the dock completely flat and wondered if that was some how to blame. It's all working fine now though.

    I've never had any issues like this before. Not even when switching between docked and portable modes. It's worked flawlessly until just now.

    Mine gets confused about when to switch between tv and portable mode. As a result it stays on tv mode. Black screen but you can bring up the brightness menu and not much else. I have to do a hard reset. Itís annoying.

    I tried switching the thing over to a different HDMI which seemed to fix it for a bit, but itís been happening again recently.

    Stardew Valley has found its home on switch. Only played an hour last night, and then couple this morning, I only played a little on Mac, so coningbpretty new to it but the form factor is perfect and the gameplay is ideal to pick up for short bursts, which turn into long sessions!
    Can see me sneaking into a quiet part of the office later with this

    I do get some dodgy behaviour from mine sometimes. Turning the Switch on using the Pro / joycons when it's docked is a bit ropey... takes a few times pressing or holding down the button before the Switch turns on. Also find moving from two player (1 x Pro, 1 x Joycons) docked Mario Kart to single player undocked (joycons attached) trips it up often, have to exit the game and press random stuff in the controller config area to get it to work. No hope in hell my little boy can get it sorted which annoys him, Ninty need to work a bit on that side of things.

    One quick question, can you message friends on the Switch. I tried today but couldn't find a way.

    I don't think so. The Switch is very much a bare bones console at present.

    I got myself an ORZLY screen protector. I hear they're the best. I also pre-order Mario Odyssey from Amazon.

    You can only ring them up from your mobile

    Earth Atlantis

    Earth Atlantis was released yesterday and I had the chance to review it. I was really excited by it due to the genre and art style. Even though it's a shooter, the concept strongly reminded me of Metroid 2, as you go around eliminating bosses as the main goal. Sadly I came away a little disappointed and found the game more of a chore than anything thanks to having to grind upgrades after dying.

    First review in about 2 weeks thanks to a pesky thing called life and getting married. Missed out on some great games it seems!

    Golf Story is a little buggy at the moment. Wait until it gets patched.

    @rice_sandwich Cheers mate, will do. Don't know if the Snes Mini has anything to do with it but the 16bit designs are really appealing at the moment. There's a coziness to them.

    Games were some what simpler back in the day. Its probably nostalgia but there was none of this collect 8000 feathers or other nonsense. I do remember games being massively more difficult in the 80s.

    Switch Indie Gold Rush

    An interesting article about the rush to release while the market is small enough ( perhaps it's too saturated already for some). Kind of explains one of my pet peeves so far. Promised features not being ready for release. i.e. GoNNER's leaderboards are STILL "coming soon" unless that's been patched in the last week. Maybe even explains the EA Fifa friends clusterfuck.

    I got a real 'Abuse' vibe from it. However the tagline "the easiest difficulty is 'hard'" pretty much killed it for me. I'm shit at games that require speedy reactions. :)

    @slider271 I really hope so, because iirc they didn't mention it was coming soon before they launched on switch, which is not on. I'm putting up with it, because it's actually a damn fine, really interesting game.

    Nintendo must be working on something to fix the friends messaging. The console has been out long enough for this to be fixed.

    @Addy_B

    Done! There's a 'Casual' difficulty which is fairly manageable. I'm terrible at this type of game but have completed the first 3 levels without dying. It has a grim, bloody and dark look with tiny pixel graphics. My first impressions are that's it's pretty fun. ZL to jump and ZR to shoot. It's a lot like Gonner, just as hard probably.

    Edit: it's very murdery and not at all suitable for kids, either playing or watching it.

    @Addy_B

    8.99. I'd say it's basically Gonner reskinned and a lot more violent and bloody.

    I've not played Gonner. I heard that was supposed to be ok.

    @superbob85 Worryingly they probably don't see it as something that needs fixing.
