Got Stardew on PS4 in a sale but know I will never get around to it...yet on the Switch, I definitely will have time.

    £10.99 as well? Excellent price...

It's basically a 'best of' Harvest Moon clone that improves upon many aspects of Harvest Moon. You raise crops and animals, collect resources, craft items and generally build stuff while improving your farm, completing quests and interacting with the locals. There's some very light combat elements too. Characters are much more realistic than HM and the dialogue is better (although not as good as Rune Factory 4).

It's a very charming and relaxing game and while extremely deep with loads of features and things to do, it's perhaps not quite as deep as the last couple of Story of Seasons games (splitting hairs here as SoS is stupidly detailed with many intricate systems).

Although to be fair it takes a long time to unlock everything in SoS and SD is much, much more accessible. You may or may not find the main game loop repetitive (till, plant seeds, water, harvest, feed animals, cook, build stuff, etc).

    A great game.
Also, if you don't want to do much farming and instead spend most of your time fishing then it's a good idea to start with the Riverland Farm map:

    https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Farm_Maps

Additionally you can also do a lot of mining, kill a load of monsters and mine a lot of minerals. There's a good amount of variety in the game so you can pretty much play it how you like.

I'm flying to Spain today, does anyone know if I can take my Switch on board with me? Flying Ryanair, if they're still solvent by the time I get to the airport.

The mining and combat is the worst part of Stardew as they're both very simple activities. I wouldn't advise people to get it if they don't like the main farming loop.

@JiveHound went last month with Ryanair and didn't have a problem. Also with a battery pack

Well, each to his own - I really enjoy the mining and simple slashing at monsters. As for the "main farming loop" you don't only need to farm crops, animals, etc - spend you time fishing instead. Or collecting items. Or forming relationships with the NPCs. Etc.

Well, I've just managed to snag a physical copy of
Disgaea 5 after loving the demo.

Any idea how many hours I can expect to lose playing it? It's my first Disgaea and I'm not a JRPG player at all!

Straw poll... does anyone care about amiibo?

We're wondering if we should add them to Vostok, but in reality I don't think it'll be worth the delay and pain of testing it all.

I have 18 of them now. Haven't actually used them in games all that often, though.

Nope. I quite like them and have one. But the game functionality is just a ballache. Used to annoy me on splatoon that some of the minigames were basically behind a paywall.

I'd leave it out and concentrate on the main game.

@quadfather In Vostok the idea was going to be that they'd boost your production by XX % for YY time and maybe they'd change your rocket trail to look like cash spewing out the back of your ship. BUT, I'd rather concentrate on getting the game done and maybe doing a playable demo instead.

You could probably beat the campaign in less than 40 hours, but that's not what the games are about. If you get stuck in to the item world then double that easily. Then if you want to do everything then it's hundreds. One of my favourite franchises of all time. Original game probably my all time number one.

Is all about the grind... Level 9999 ftw

Seems this thread just survived an awkward couple of pages.

    Did make me snigger though.

A good demo might make me buy a game. Amiibo functionality wouldn’t.

@dadrester oh man do this, so much this. Amiibos are getting to be as bad as any other form of DLC, just a lot more expensive and with little/no benefit to the devs. Shitty Nintendo policy that we love and hate yet hate but you know they are great but we hate them. Love the big N. You get the idea.

I got it for free on Xbox One. It's an okay puzzle game but I wouldn't pay more than a fiver, if that.
