All they need now is a Witcher 3 port. Seriously considering a switch as my second console.

Breath of the Wild and Odyssey in the same year. Nintendo knows how to make a game.

I might be over simplifying things, but seriously...into games, buy a Switch.

What a great year Nintendo are having.

I think Switch may struggle there I'm afraid.

Love how the Nindies have been so successful too. Means we'll get more content.

Fuck it! Going to cancel by XBox X pre-order. Probably. When the hell am I going to have time to play it with Mario, Zelda and other goodies keeping me going.

With how the Switch has turned out it's really annoyed me with how Sony treated the Vita and how they left it to die and abandon any evolution of it.

Odyssey looks absolutely crammed with ideas. Like, every 3D Mario combined.

Hopefully that XB limited edition doesn't sell out in three minutes...

There is the 'rumour' still floating around of Sony unveiling a tablet gaming system at TGS.

Don't believe it myself. You never know after the Switch and Sony are feeling confident atm.

Well obviously, but if the ports of doom and wolfenstein aren't completely gimped then this could be a proper game changer in how this machine is viewed, it's capability and its audience.

I decided against the One X this year in favour of a Switch just because I don't want to miss out on Mario Odyssey. I'll probably pick up Arms and Mario Kart, maybe Splatoon 2, Xenoblade 2 and Skyrim.

I think the Witcher 3 is far more demanding than Doom which was well known for running well on low hardware.
I hope you get your wish though:)

@JamboWayOh thing is that Doom and Wolfenstein already run at 60fps on consoles. Worst case scenario, you can make them run at 30fps on the Switch and still get a playable experience (although I really hope they can hit 60fps without too much trouble).

But TW3 already runs at 30fps on the other consoles, and not even stable 30fps. It might prove a bit more challenging.

We still need to see an actual AAA engine ported onto the Switch. Skyrim is a 360 era port. Mario & Rabbids looks promising, but as an exclusive it was clearly built on the strengths and weaknesses of the Switch. We still don't know what's going on with Steep.

Doom might be one of the first actual test beds.

Exactly, it might get third party devs to actually look at it seriously and see what can be done with it. Although id tech 6 is some next level voodoo shit with it how performs generally. I'm not sure how it can look better than most games out there and run at full pelt.

    Zero chance of 60fps IMO.

I think it's possible. Actually, if it were my decision, I'd make sure it was my first priority, even if I had to lower the details to the bare minimum.

I would imagine 30fps with a huge dollop of id's quality motion blur. Actually feel like reinstalling doom on my xbox.

@pelican_ Of course Sony will release a Switch competitor! Now Nintendo has shown the way forward, Sony will follow once again. PS4 is being destroyed in sales by the Switch in Japan! Sony Japan will be all over this and wouldn't be surprised if there was an E3 reveal June 2018 and release by Nov/Dec 2018.

NES and SNES resulted in PS1 (after the famous Nintendo/Sony joint-effort fallout). GameBoy and GameBoy Advance (and maybe even DS E3 reveal) resulted in the PSP and Vita. Lets try and forget the hastily added terrible motion control added to the PS3 release controller after the Wii reveal or the weird glowing dildo controllers that still live-on today, that came about as a result of Nintendo's Wii.

TLDR; Sony will reveal/release a Switch competitor next year.

Not a massively exciting Direct for my tastes. Sure, Mario looks amazing but I was hoping for a couple of new first party game announcements. But it's good that Doom etc. will broaden the appeal of the Switch.

Doom made me wet. That and LA Noire are great for it. So excited. So many games I'm going to buy. Don't know how I'm going to fit it all in and I haven't had that feeling on a Nintendo console ever. Maybe the GameCube at a push.

One game I've missed since I sold my ps4 to get the Switch was doom, so I'm well pleased with this.

I've decided to give my PS4 away to a relative. Given my gaming time been fairly restricted this year, I've used the PS4 maybe a handful of times since March.

The Switch has changed my gaming habit.

I'd expect VC when the online service launches. Another delay to its launch wouldn't surprise me. I reckon early to mid 2018 before we see something.
