Do not buy 1 2 Switch. It's a party game / tech demo. It may be moderately fun with a large crowd in a party but otherwise is entirely forgettable. Bomberman is worth about £15-20, depending on how much you like Bomberman. It's fairly difficult against even the lowest level of AI and online play is equally challenging. I suck at Bomberman, mind.

Overcooked is good fun but again gets fairly challenging quite quickly. It depends if you're bothered about getting three stars on every level or just doing the bare minimum to progress.

1 2 Switch is alright, it's not worth £35 but you can have a fun time playing it with a few friends, it's a good party game.

It has been in that state for a couple of weeks now. If you were eagle-eyed you'd have spotted that they actually had some in stock yesterday. Added to, end removed from, my basket half a dozen times. Decided against it in the end. :)

So keep 'em peeled, stock appears to be rolling in ad-hoc periodically. 24th is likely their next big monster shipment. Just in time for Mario + Rabbids.

    Thanks Rice.

I'm going to pass on all three at the moment then unless I see a bargain. I was hovering over Overcooked yesterday but I'll wait until the kids say they want it. I'll save the money for things I actually want:

    Mario and Rabbids
    Stardew valley
    Lego Worlds
    Pokken TOurnament
    Super Mario Odyssey
    Rime
    Skyrim
    Xenoblade Chronicles 2
    Syberia 3
    Rocket League

    etc...

Two more indie titles coming to Switch... https://twitter.com/CurveDigital/status/896000190020075522

Be interesting to see how the Switch handles the physics in Human Fall Flat...

The amount of "coming soon" titles for the Switch is insane. Indie publishers are lining up to announce games. System must have struck a chord somewhere.

I think the Switch is going to be, if nothing else, a fantastic indie game machine. Hardly a day goes by now without another 'coming to Switch' announcement being made. I guess the porting and development is easy so they might as well go for it.

I've been tempted twice in the past few weeks to order a Switch, however twice i've cleared my basket. Only games i would be interested in are Zelda and Mario Kart atm, and i own both on the WiiU. And the indie games coming, or are on the system i either own or not too interested in.

One day i'll get a Switch, but i got an aweful lot on the PS4 to play that keeps me interested.

PS4 is going into the boys room soon as his Lego dimensions machine. I literally haven't played a game on it since March, and nothing coming out soon that I'm interested.

Switch is ticking all the right boxes for me at the moment. Going to pick up overcooked, binding of Isaac and Mario rabbids this month.

Still to complete Zelda and snake pass, with MK and splatoon on the go.

    Aces.

Controversial opinion, but i would be really happy if the PS5 or Xbox...what ever number they want to call it... turned out to be a hybrid machine in the vein of the Switch.

I know it is nice to have variation in choice - and it would be sad to see home console 'disappear' but i fucking love my switch. The home console and portable nature of the machine as really captured my heart. So nice to have a choice in the way you want to play a game.

Indies look great on the screen and more suited to portable play, Classic titles (ps1, 2) would be more suited to screen play, and theres a whole catalogue of ps3 games to port. Furthermore, games would be cheaper to make (Development time, cost) and more games would be made. I'm not really that fussed with visuals that much - although at e3 games do turn my head but it for me its not that important.

Perhaps Nintendo and the others should play to their strengths, but if either one did decide to go hybrid i would be perfectly happy. Maybe either one would struggle against Nintendo especially against juggernauts like Pokemon, but it would be worth a punt at least. I'd be up for it.

Indie games should be great for mobile, but people aren't really keen on paying upfront for mobile games, and you do need physical controls for many of them. I can understand indie developers optimism that they'll get a slice of the morning commute market.

Don't think that's controversial at all!

We are miles off that technically tho. The closest that exists at the moment is those "gaming" windows devices on Atom CPUs and they can barely run old titles like Arkham Asylum @ 30fps on low res.

    Not to mention battery life...

... more than I'll ever play of Tumbleseed probably too. That's proving too fiddly to be fun at present.

Does anyone own the hori wired controller?

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hori-Nintendo-Controller-Officially-Licensed/dp/B01NAUATSM?SubscriptionId=AKIAITDNH6W4OSLANMLQ&tag=whichconsolec-21&linkCode=xm2&camp=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=B01NAUATSM&ascsubtag=fm_5143291

Although it's wired it's half the price of the pro controller and seems to get decent reviews on Amazon for what they're worth.

    @Addy_B

No motion control though so for games like splatoon it's pretty worthless.

Depends what you want it for.

Is there no where selling digital credit for e store at a decent discount? I'm struggling to fork out 50 quid for splatoon. Just feels wrong.

@Gregolution I switched my Nintendo a/c to South Africa and bought it for a tenner less and back again. It's so easy and quick to do and my credit card worked on the SA eshop. It's just a case of changing the account region in a web browser.

@Addy_B For what it's worth, the Pro controller is lovely. I think the Joy Con do the trick rather well (I played through Zelda and Mario Kart 8 this way), but I've grown to really appreciate the Pro Controller in recent weeks. It has a nice weight to it, which does help with motion control aiming. The shoulder buttons are nicely sized and position. It also has an amazing battery life. In 45 hours of Splatoon 2, i've only had to charge it once.

It's probably my all-time favourite 'standard' controller. Not even the lack of analogue triggers brings it down. In fact, I prefer them that way.
