    @Jeepers I am not sure this isn't deliberate, with the joycons acting as a kind of crumple zone. You'd much more likely damage the console itself if you drop it if the joycons had metal rails as well and a super-tight fit.

    @UncleLou

    That would make a lot of sense. I think I'm probably sore about the design as I very, very rarely use my Switch docked and would have preferred it as single, undockable lump of metal.

    But I'm in a minority I think.

    Is the damage to yours limited to the Joycon or has the body itself suffered? If the former, then that supports your idea.

    @Jeepers It seems to be just the tiny latch at the joycon itself, bit like this (not my photo):

    Are there any Switch games out suitable for a 4 year old? My little boy is getting the hang of Mario Kart nicely, he's started to steer himself and not rely on auto-steer which is cool, but he's still at the age of throwing a massive strop if he doesn't come 1st :D I was hoping there was already a Lego game (not City) available where you basically can't die or lose, but looks like we're not getting one until Marvel Superheroes in Nov.

    Anything out there, mainstream or indie?

    Phew. I'm glad they labelled that photo, was struggling to see which side was borked.

    Read a rumour that the company that makes the screens for the Switch in Japan might be going bust. Hugely in debt since Apple moved to OLED screens and stopped using them.
    That'll do wonders for the supply shortages.

    Is it normal for the switch to get really warm while playing in docked mode? Ive hsd mine since launch but only used it in handheld mode up until last night where i docked it and after 90 mins of splatoon the switch was very very warm..

    Pretty much, yeah. Wouldn't worry about it unless it's hot rather than warm.

    Why 720p screen through? Is it really that much more power to include a 1080 screen?

    @the_milkybar_kid Come on. It's going to be awesome when you get it back. You can compile a list of games you want to buy the moment it lands back in your hands!

    Yes, but make sure you've not got the dock propped up against a wall or anything. There's a gap in the back to allow it to take air in,

    1080p is more than double the pixel density of 720p.

    @DangerousDave_87 I'm on a bit of a budget after buying some decks. Truth be told, I just want to play Spalatoon. According to the tracking it'll be there tomorrow so should be back next week.

    @the_milkybar_kid It'll be worth the wait. Hopefully they'll have announced a new free map for release when you get it back!

    Exactly. The hit on battery power to achieve a 1080p resolution on a 1080p screen simply isn't worth it. Remember, plenty of Xbox One and PS4 games don't natively run at 1080p, and they're consoles which are permanently plugged into the wall.

    When using the Switch in handheld mode I've rarely noticed any jaggies, and I've only ever thought Zelda and Mario Kart 8 look stunning.

    @jimnastics

    I've got a four year old and a six year old. Arms has been an unexpected hit in our house. It's simple to pick up and button mashey enough that they can both still win. Neither use the motion controls, which is probably for the best.

    Beyond that, they enjoy the odd game of Mario Kart. My six year old loves Lego City but it's way too advanced for my four year old.

    Review spam alert. It's been a busy few days.

    Gunbarich

    A potentially excellent arcade Breakout-shooter mix that's betrayed by its arcade origins.

    https://whataboutthegame.com/2017/08/10/gunbarich-switch-review/

    Infinite Minigolf

    A solid game with a decent course editor and lots of user created goodness.

    https://whataboutthegame.com/2017/08/10/infinite-minigolf-switch-review/

    Retro City Rampage DX

    Practically famous these days. Shallow gameplay but worth it for the cool 80's nostalgia references.

    Sorry!

    @brigadier

    I agree with you about almost everything you say about Infinite Mini Golf. Your review reads like a 6 or 7. It's a decent game but feels very generic and it just doesn't feel that exciting to play. Much more fun in 2p mode to be fair.

    @jimnastics lego world is doing out for the Switch.

    Have you 1/2 switch. It looks rubbish to me, but a 4 year old might like it.

    Overcooked or snipperclips on co op? Bomberman? Minecraft on Nintendo level?

    Lego city once you unlock stuff (my kids like it)

    Snipperclips is a great game to play co-op.

    @GuybrushThreepwood I'm going to see if I can pick up 1/2 for cheap, along with Just Dance (there's a new Just Dance coming out end of year, so hoping the current one sees some sell off).

    I think Bomberman, Minecraft and Snipperclips might be too much right now, he definitely needs that instant gratification and hand-holding of something like the Lego movie franchise games. With Lego City it looks like you have do a fair bit of exploring and thinking for yourself??

    Lego city is a big world (especially when you unlock the rest of the place through the story). It's also co op. So you can play with him at the same time. If you play the lead character, you can go through the story for them and let them just doss about crashing cars and getting blocks.

    Not much more to include the screen, but a waste if the processing can't utilise it properly. Plus cost.

    How come 1 2 Switch is still 35? It looks dross and I'm only interested in it out of morbid curiosity. It looks like it should be 5 or a free tech demo.

    I "almost" had Super Bomber man for 12 yesterday. Saw it priced up as second hand and asked for it to be put aside. When I came back they scanned it and apparently it should have been 30. Shame as I made a special journey to get it the second time, but couldn't really argue. To be honest, even at 12, I was wondering if I'd play it much. I think Overcooked would be more something for the family. I'm looking forwards to a few of the titles that are coming up. Its a good little console with all the indie titles coming through.
