    @GarlVinland The anime is basically the critical path, and only does the true ending (the game has six, and they're all well worth seeing). The anime is (necessarily) massively condensed and while fine, it really doesn't do the game justice IMO.

    @Ror Cool, I've put it on the list. How about Steins Gate 0, worth a punt too? I started reading a review of it and within 2 lines they were giving spoiler warnings for the first game, so didn't get as far as seeing if it was actually any good...

    @GarlVinland I've only done one ending on SG0 so far, I need to get back to that.

    It's a semi-sequel that takes off from one of the other endings in the first game. Play the original first, and then see how you feel; I was excited to go back to that world and those characters. If you are too, then grab it.

    @FrostPan Yeah, I watched the second part of the first episode last night. I wasn't expecting that.

    I'm in.

    I hope so too. Supposedly they have enough manga material to do a second season, and a OVA episode is coming in September. So maybe an announcement eventually. We'll see!

    Couldn't find a manga appreciation thread so thought I'd post here.

    Just started reading this manga called Clover. It's a hilarious high-school battle manga, with a similar art style to Crows and Rough. Well worth a read if you're into that sort of thing.

    The Death Note reviews are out. 'Not good, at all' is the consensus.

    Don't care, still gonna see it. The reviews all center on the whitewashing, which I have no problem with. They also say it is incoherent and rushed into ~90mins, which admittedly is a bigger problem. Out Friday so we'll see.

    I do wish it was adapted into a TV series, which I thought it originally was. I look forward to it with low expectations.

    The reviews seem to imply that the movie sets up a sequel, so I imagine it will only cover a portion of the series. Can't wait, I'd love to see what America makes out of it, good or bad.

    So Re:Zero is pretty good so far. I'm nine eps in, and the first time Subaru died from the curse, I did think, "wouldn't it be funny if he's putting all this effort into finding out whodunit, and it turns out he just got poisoned by that dog bite." Turns out I was kinda, sorta right, in a roundabout way :D

    @FrostPan Yeah, it's good so far. Can feel a little slow in places, but I guess that's to be expected considering all the rewinding. Cheers to you and Grax for the suggestion.

    @FrostPan I've been watching it a bit sporadically recently, so I'm just over halfway. Last thing that happened was that Subaru saw a big eye.

    @FrostPan I'm watching it. It's pretty good - they've brought a few more themes relating to actual game design and development into the second series, which has made it more interesting. It's never going to be "gaming's answer to Shirobako", but it's still fun.

    This and Isekai Shokudou are my "relaxing" shows of the season. I thought Centaur's Life might fall into that category as well, but at first it had the odd totalitarian subtexts (which I liked) and then it had the horribly misjudged tonal trainwreck that was episde 9 (which I did not like).

    If you haven't seen it, think "A Muppet Schindler's List".

    @Ror

    Hmmm, I'm not sure. I think you are soon approaching my favourite episode. But from halfway the series gets even better.

    @Rogueywon

    Yeah, I agree your points on why season 2 is more interesting. I thought the first season was a bit ho-hum, but very watchable. This time I'm genuinely enjoying it.

    Centaur's Life has been on my watch list. Think I may watch it soon. Isekai Shokudou does not look that appealing to me, but I'll give it a go eventually.

    @FrostPan It certainly picks up quite a bit in the middle (though it's not like it was boring to begin with!).

    Everyone has forgotten Rem :(

    I'm more interested in Made in Abyss. Couldn't wait and manga spoiled myself a few weeks back.

    The anime finally got to the good bits. :D

    Thought this season would be pretty poor, and in places it is. Gamers was a bit of a surprise with it's twisted web of misunderstandings taken to the extreme, and Nana Maru San Batsu has been quietly getting on with a standard template but interesting quizzing. Kakegurui and Ballroom have been a tad underwhelming, despite the quality on show, and Knight's & Magic has just been enjoyably silly with breakneck pacing and the most OP of OP leads.

    But the disappointments are many, with Classroom of the Elite and Koi to Uso starting strong and rapidly losing their way. CoE doesn't seem to know what it is (mystery, fan-service pool ep, now Battle Royale) and Koi floundering for the past few eps. Hajimite no Gal rounds off as something I started for a laugh, but the pandering and perviness just got too much, trash anime at it's best(?).

    Don't even get me started on running gag paedo friend.

    Thank fuck for Aho Girl, saviour of the season, and a pitch perfect manga-styled skit this week. The Initial D eurobeat cuts were up within the hour......

    Fall is shaping up to be interesting. Kino no Tabi better be good, but there's Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou as a possible contender too. 3-gatsu no lion and Kekkai Sensen make it all good though, and there are a few others I'll keep an eye on.
