    Splinter Cell Conviction.

Iím a massive fan of the originals so I had low expectations but itís not as bad as everyone says. If you try and play it as a pure stealth game then it is fundamentally broken. Too often the game/level design forces you to break cover and into shoot outs and you canít hide bodies or throw objects/decoys. But if you donít try and play it like a Splinter Cell game, thereís a lot of fun to be had playing cat and mouse with the AI and making stealthy head shots. The game gets an extra point for one scene featuring a DJ Shadow song.

    8/10

It made me want to play a proper splinter cell game again so I just started the original 2002 game on the 360. Itís 4:3 and very pixelly but it still looks alright. Itís holding up well so far.

    Dead Space 3

Brilliant. Like the previous sequel, it doesn't quite have the magic of the first game but still fantastic. The occasional graphical glitch aside, it is technically superb. And it's such a shame it often gets slated for the micro-transactions because they are not pushed on to you at all. It's left completely in the background for people to use only if they really want to. And you don't need them at all.

    9/10
Good to know. I bought it during Amazons Black/shite Friday deals. I only paid £9 so thought I would get my monies worth. Loved the original and more than enjoyed the second, I also liked the demo of 3, so even though it has mostly got a very warm reception I'm sure I will get some fun out of it.

Did you play solo of co-op, I will try both I think.

Dead Space 3 is really not that very good.

... and that is coming from someone who rates Dead Space as one of the top ten games of this generation. The sequel is worthwhile, if only for Isaacs hallucinations and the creepily spooky nursery (I'd rarely be able to listen to 'Tinkle Tinkle Little Star' the same way again), but the third one is a wholesome - 'MAKE US WHOLE!' - disappointment.

Granted, the first couple of hours during the space graveyard is Dead Space as we know and love it, but as soon as you land on the frozen planet, you may as well take the disk out and never play it again because it only progressively gets worse and worse and worse.

One of the lamest ending ever too. Yes, that bad.

Heavens knows how someone with a sane mentality could possibly give Dead Space 3 a nine out of ten is beyond the blissful capabilities of my fragile mind.

Which is more insane 9 out of 10 for this game or thinking "tinkle tinkle little star" is actually the words to the nursery rhyme?

Time will tell my man, but if it is good enough for Dave, I feel it needs to be played ;)

I'd just like you to walk in with slightly realistically low expectations, is all.

... after all, we both love the original and thoroughly enjoyed the sequel.

Do let us know if you decided to stop playing the game once you landed on the frozen planet!

Borderlands 2: Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep

Definitely one of the better DLC's for BL2. The re-skin of most enemies was much better than I predicted. Story-line was amusing as well, with the right amount sentimentality thrown in at the end. Also, the sword gun is worth the price of admission alone! I'm pretty sure Mr. Torgue annoys the bejesus out of most people, I find him hilarious.

I just need my fellow x-box friends to start playing this so I can take on some of the raid bosses. Even at level 55, I feel my top character is pretty underpowered...

Whatever you do, don't read the Polygon review! 9.5/10

I was shocked for the first hour at how bad it was (generic dude-bro shooter), was blown away by the spaceship graveyard sequence (could be my highlight of the series) only for the game to drag itself down into a looonnnggg and repetitive pit of mediocrity.

The stellar (hoho!) audio and visuals coupled with the aforementioned spaceship graveyard saved it from being a write off, so 6/10 (I didn't complete it, abandoned it around the 85% mark as it was sending me to sleep).

    Ah, Polygon.

... the very same website that gave The Last of Us a 7.5!

The graveyard is so blooming good! Why on Earth didn't they just stick around in space instead?

@DUFFMAN5 I didn't try co-op. Would be interested go know how that plays.

And Charlie, who said I was sane ;-)

I thought 3's ending at least made sense, unlike the nonsense at the end of 2. And I never got bored with this game once. Loved it!

Certainly better than AC3, which I'm playing now. What a disappointment...

    AC4 Black Flag PC 8/10

Great game filled with those moments and experiences that make gaming so special as a medium. Sound, music, world and art design are all magical. Certainly the best AC yet. Kenway is also a far more grounded, less pretentious character than in previous ACs

The game though is massively let down by its utterly shite main missions which to 85% consist of follow this target and listen to their conversation. These mostly crap and doing the optional objectives during them are rubbish too. Also so many of the optional objectives do not show up until after the mission ends (no the pause menu decides not to show them) and sometimes the game does not tell you how to even trigger or which controls to employ to complete the optional objectives.

It says something when the Aveline missions which are includes in the PS versions of the game or in my case the digital deluxe uplay version on PC are better than anything in the main game.

Having said that, the side missions, assassination contracts, hunting missions and ship combat make up for any downers.

Strongly recommend this as a purchase, especially on PC as it looks wonderful.

    BF4 SP PS4 - 8/10

Very enjoyable indeed. Got a good couple of days out of it. Onto the MP at some point over the weekend.

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

    Batman Arkham Origins PS3 8/10

Finished It this morning and really enjoyed it, it brings nothing new to the table but I liked the story and would say I enjoyed it as much as I did Asylum., I abandoned City at the jammers part as quite honestly I got bored with it, enjoyed this far more, I only saw 1 bug and that was not a show stopper

lol Don't get me wrong, I loved it, but it made no sense at all. I'm sure there was an interview with someone from Visceral who admitted that if he had been at the meeting where they decided the ending he would have vetoed it!

    AC4 (PS4)

Very pretty jungles and impressive seafaring. Probably the best AC game yet but it would be better still if it was just a pirate game. The AC bits are a bit of a let down and the weakest elements of the game. I enjoyed the side quests more than the main missions!

Sure Ubisoft should have stolen a lot of the parkour and main mechanics from AC but this should have been its own game. A story purely about traitorous pirates and swashbuckling whilst fighting the Spanish and stealing from the English would be awesome. The Templar / animus story was just a huge let down and overly familiar tosh.

Big negative: To many missions based on staying close to people who are walking and talking without been spotted by the hundreds of surrounding guards.

Big positive: Enormous and beautiful world to explore and plunder.

    8/10

    Super Mario 3d World.

Looks lovely and is smooth as butter but it didn't wow me as much as I wanted it to. It treads the line between 2d and 3d fairly well and it has loads of neat little ideas but it just felt less satisfying than either in the end.

I think there are two big factors that contributed to this. Firstly there are far too many incidents of falling off ledges or getting hit by enemies you're trying to jump on. This is down to not being fully aware of your character's allignment to its surroundings. It gets really frustrating by the later levels. The game needs to be a bit more generous with its hitbox. Secondly I really hate the acceleration in this. It makes no sense as you have no actual control over the two stages and in a game where control is paramount this really is a major flaw for me.

I'm really disappointed in Nintendo and specifically the team as these are things they are known to get right.

All other things considered this is a great game but for a mainline Mario a bit underwhelming.

Jive hound, you are mental. :-)

Just 'cleared' Super Mario 3D World (or did I) and I thought it was fucking sublime. How many surprises, one off power-ups, one level only quirks, hidden stars and stamps, weird enemies does that fucking game have?

Also, the music is sublime, and the value for money is there. It is an incredibly long game that doesn't feel it. Easiest 10/10 I could possibly imagine, and my game of the year.

Also, whoever it was saying Dead Space 3 was great, you're mental too. It was fucking shite.

Just finished ghosts on the PS4. Very solid 8/10

As someone who does not play online I'd like a longer campagne but I enjoyed it and it looked pretty good too, there were plenty if bits where I wondered how the ps3/360 would have coped.

About to eBay it now I think as I don't do multiplayer.

You're not alone with struggling with depth perception in SM3DW. I have trouble with it too, from time to time. My girlfriend has struggled with it throughout, and when her parents came to visit this weekend, they too struggled with it.

I never had this issue with 3D Land, simply because it was in 3D. You don't really appreciate how much the 3D helps in that game until you've played 3D World.

    Killzone: Shadowfall (PS4)

    +Looks glorious
    +Some epic feeling levels
    +Satisfying gunplay
    +Interesting settings
    +OWL

-Silly story and bland, shallow characters
    -Spider mines
    -Linearity
    -Stealth could be better
-First couple of missions are a bit naff

Shows off the PS4's capabilities and is a largely enjoyable playthrough, just nothing spectacular or particularly memorable. Didn't enjoy it as much as KZ2.

    7/10

    Contrast- 7/10 (PS4.)

A heavily underrated game that deserves much more attention than it's getting. I almost can't believe this was given 4/10s.

    + Wonderful vaudevillian setting
    + Interesting shadow mechanic
    + Some fantastic moments
    + Heartwarming story
    + Collectibles

    - Controls could be tighter
    - A bit glitchy

    Tomb Raider (360)

Started this last week and hammered it over a few days. Thought it was a sublime game. It was far too handholdy at times but I didn't mind that too much as I enjoyed it so much.

Never played a Tomb Raider game since a demo of the first one back in the 90's, and as I thought it was shit I never bothered with the series. After reading up on this one, it seemed that it strayed from what I found so tedious originally whilst introducing an incarnation of the character that wasn't a two dimensional digital wank.

The graphics were astounding, the combat brilliantly entertaining and there was a good balance between fighting and exploration. Going by what others have said I actually expected a lot more combat than there was.

This was one of those rare games that I didn't want to stop playing.

    9.5 / 10

This here the reason why we will never get a proper Tomb Raider ever again.

... because people like to have their hands held all the way through without taxing 0.007% of their brains capacity.

Oh, and not forgetting the PEW, PEW, PEW too.
