    So, lets see.

    First 2 maps free

Next 2 maps for $5.99 which will probadly be 2.99 for us.

    Then

5 Maps for $11.99 which will probadly be 5.99 for us.

OR buy the disk which comes out after all maps have been released and has extras like documentaries etc...

$20 which might be 20 for us but probadly 15.

Seems to be cheaper if you get the DLC through Xbox Live. Of course it all depends if my figures add up.

    and finally

Wait till the end of summer to get it all free.

People shouldn't bitch about being charged for things. Have you been going through life expecting everything to be handed to you? Are you demanding people sacrifice their time, energy, and money for you-- for nothing in return?

I mean hell, if Bungie shouldn't charge a few bucks for 9 maps, then Microsoft shouldn't be charging for an Xbox, I should be given a car for free if I want one, I DON'T think I should have to ever pay for food.

Hell, I like movies-- why should I have to pay for that? Isn't it obvious to these companies that when there is a desire for their product, that they shouldn't charge me for it? Isn't that what socialism and caring for your fellow man is all about-- sacrifice?

That's the problem with the "selfish corporate greed" of these companies-- they don't give me things for free if I want them! THEY are so selfish!

/is obviously mocking people childishly angry that they actually have to pay for something...

I would complain about some multiplayer maps costing $20, but releasing them for free after so long is more than most companies would do. I don't think it's that bad a deal.

Tengu, your counter-mock noted, I must be careful because many people would think I really am serious and that would cause all sorts of confusion.

Really though, if somebody thinks they should be getting something for free then they should be executed for committing treason against reality.

Pffft... If you ask me, Microsoft should be paying Bungie out of the piles of cash they make from Xbox Live! subscriptions. It's not really like anything on Xbox Live is free, DLC or otherwise when you have to pay a subscription charge, is it?

Personally, I'd much prefer it if they released all the maps together in one batch for a single one-off payment. If I was them, I'd probably only mention the first pack and then tell consumers about the next one after they'd had a taste. Then people mightn't feel like they're being ripped off when they bought the packs because they wouldn't know there was more to come.

But hey, what do I know about business, I've got complete faith that the holy union of Bungie and Microsoft have worked it all out for the maximum profit. :p

Would have thought Bungie could have come up with an ending at that price.

If you ask me, Microsoft should be paying Bungie out of the piles of cash they make from Xbox Live! subscriptions.

Being that I know a great deal about Microsoft's financial situation, I can tell you that Microsoft has probably lost at least $1 billion on Xbox Live so far.

Secondly, Bungie is owned by Microsoft-- 100% of it. Bungie is Microsoft.

I actually don't get people's problem. Is it just me or are we, in one months, time, getting two free maps, then then over the preceeding four months 7 additional maps will made free also including updated playlists and a patch?

The catch is if want it all at once then pay 15-20 quid (over on HBO some people are saying it'll only $12 which more like a 10) and people have a problem with that.

Now, call me ignorant - and this question is a genuine one, not intended to provoke, but what the f**k is the problem here? I don't get it.

    /is Halo 2 fanboy

What I see as the problem: two tiered playing, at least in the short-term.

Those who buy the new maps months before they're available freely will know them like the back of their hands. Won't exactly make for a fun experience for a while.

Good that they WILL make them freely available, don't get me wrong, but it's going to make using your friendslist exclusively even more important. :/

Buy the maps then. Thats the catch. They know of this conflict and are probably counting on it.

I was one those people. Sister is having a birthday party right now and they need the Xbox to play Dodgeball DVD. Other DVD player died yesterday. Typical!
