@Zeffi just use insulating tape, or some sellotape until you find some. Unless the metal bits are showing and make contact with your device body you will be fine. Eventually you could get some heat-shrink and have the option of "double bagging" your batteries but that's a bit OTT.

Remember batteries are one big -ve apart from the +ve on the top, so any unexpected contact could be nasty. All the same they don't have to be super-double-ultra-kai protected, just enough that the current wants to go through the bits it is meant to.

So, couple of things - the film cover on my batteries is starting to tear.

    - Why is this dangerous exactly?
    - Where can I buy new covers?
Yeah, pop the ones with tears to one side and try to avoid using them.
Head over to Ebay or Amazon and just search "18650 battery wrap"
Usually you can get a pack of 5 for a couple of pounds.
Lots of different colours, but that's just a personal preference thing. The colours don't mean anything, you can get some kinda funky "Marvel" themed ones if you really like. :)

Good quality batteries and good care of those batteries is a really big and important thing.
Generally it seems most of these "explody" stories are due to either unregulated mod's (the ones with enclosed batteries) that are over used and running hot or 18650 mods that regulate the power but have shitting 18650's that haven't been looked after correctly.

Any nicks or tears on the wraps, whip them off straight away and replace them immediately. It's a piece of piss and you only need a hairdryer to wrap a battery, I've seen retards doing it with a blow torch... a hairdryer is 100% fine.
And if you have spare batteries you like to carry around to prolong your vape time whilst out and about, buy a little plastic case to carry them around in. again, Ebay or amazon "18650 Case".
If you buy new batteries almost all decent options will come with a little case. Use this all the time. Don't have batteries lose in your pockets. They will go bang.

It's been a thing for a while now, since these explody stories have started appearing the manufacturers have been putting "Battery Care" advisory notes in the packaging/boxes of any new mods.
Look after your battery and your battery will look after you. :)

I should also say, don't skimp on batteries. If they are overly cheap they are likely that way for a reason. Maybe shitty grade batteries re-wrapped with a nice LG or Samsung name down the side.

Try and buy from a larger online retailer with credibility or head down to you decent trusted local Vape store.

The same advice goes for any mods/tanks/coils you buy.
Avoid Ebay and stick to proper credible retailers, either online or on the high street.
    Just not worth it.

Come in a hard case & with extra wraps, POTV15 will get you a discount.
Good prices - buy the VTC5As - Google 'Battery Mooch' for tests etc.

I have a real issue with coil quality with my isub G tank. The ones I've purchased on the internet make it taste like i'm sucking on a battery which is a shame, as the ones I got off amazon were ok despite having about 2 duffers out of five. Really is a pain in the arse finding the sweet spot for a set up.

Both have had the official sticker on the box which I checked online, yet the cotton in both was evidently wound differently to the coil so one of them is telling porkies.

Might stick with the amazon ones, at least they tasted decent to vape.

Recommendations for a mod to use at home (something with a bit more power and can hold a bigger tank (crown v1):

    - Reuleaux RX200
    - Smok Alien

    ?

@Zeffi Love my Reuleaux 2/3. Very comfortable to use, loads of power and 3 batteries worth of life.

Thanks, do the 3 batteries make it clunky/too big or heavy?

I carry mine everywhere but it might not be suitable for everyone as a pocket vape; for home use it is perfect.

The shape is incredibly comfortable, easily the most natural fit I have used, so it is not what I would call clunky. As for weight it is basically as heavy as a 2x18650 mod with an extra battery strapped to it :)

Edit: and with the 2/3 version you could just use 2 batteries and it is still lovely to hold. (I'm not on commission, I just think they are great.)

I haven't had a cigarette for a year or more. I'm starting to think I should be dropping my nic down from 12mg.

If I do, how long will it take me to adjust to the lower nic?

I went from 12 to 6 to 3 in about a month. You can tell the difference but you get used to it pretty quickly. Been on 3 for ages and it's absolutely fine.

You'll just end up vaping more regularly, ie chain-vaping, until your need settles.

Give it a few weeks on 6 and you'll be unable to go back. 3 seems to be the sweet spot between giving you a hit and the nic not affecting the flavour experience.

Ok, have an order incoming from onepoundeliquid for 100mls all at 12mg (will last me about a month), once that is done my next order will be all 6mg to give it a good go! That goes well, 3mg will be my 3rd months order.

Adjusting strenth is effectively like cutting down on how many cigs you smoke a day. Supposedly a rough guide is:

Nicotine Strength - Cigarettes Per Day
    6mg/0.6% (low) - Up to 10 cigarettes a day
    12mg/1.2% (medium) - Up to 20 cigarettes a day
    18mg/1.8% (high) - Up to 30 cigarettes a day
24mg/2.4% (very high) - Up to 60 cigarettes a day

I switch between 6 and 3 and don't notice any increased vaping on 3 TBH.

Interesting, i used to smoke about 10 roll ups a day and now I use around 6%.

    @Mr_Sleep

Yeah I used to be a 10 a day man. I felt all happy with myself that I dropped down to low strength from medium but it seems I'm actually on the right level for when I used to smoke rather than cutting down on the nicotine :)

I think we're just discussing a better alternative to smoking, but whatever cunt.

Think I'll be ordering that Smok Alien - I think 3 batteries would be a pain.

Wow thanks, this is very useful to me. The batteries' plastic have started splitting and peeling and I had no idea whether or not it was something I should address.

    Cunt?

How rude. You do think it's a bit cool though don't you? Be honest....

Just like you thought smoking was cool.

Before you realised it wasn't and just turned you into a smelly twat. 👍

The thing I donít really get is the need to have huge thick sickly-sweet smelling bellows of vape cloud following you down the road. Does this genuinely make it a better experience somehow for the user?

Genuine question, Iíve never really vaped. Iíve had a bit of an experience with a heat-not-burn type thing and I understand that a bit of a cloud is kinda pleasing and itís nice to have some feedback that youíve actually inhaled something, but I donít really understand why that element needs to be pushed to such extremes.

I've got a question for you knowledgable lot.
My vape stick, or whatever its called, had a lot of taste at the start of its life but now, even with changing the coils every week and, cleaning the damned thing more and more as time goes by, just tastes like shit now. No matter what juice I seem to try.
So, my question is what's up with it? Do they become useless after a while?

I have an Aspire premium kit, this one..Linky

I'm not a smoker but vape cos I like it. And no, neither pastime is "cool".

I fear that Zeffi's original assessment of you was on the money.

The battery cell inside is probably past it. 300 charge cycles is average, after that it won't charge as well as it used to and won't hold that charge as long as it used to - meaning it won't be delivering the power you're used to.

Time to get a new one, probably...

Everyone who doesn't vape thinks anyone who does is a complete cunt. Believe me.

You've only got to see someone pull one of those things out of their pocket.... and it's 'instant cunt'

Good luck with your substitute dummy hobby.
