@FrostPan Watching The Did You Know Gaming video the team who did the remaster were given an unfinished version of the code. Konami didn't have a copy of the final retail version code for them to work from so they had to try and fix an earlier broken version of the game then port it to 360/PS3.

I guess that could account for some bugs and odd choices but I don't know if it refers to both games or just Silent Hill 2. And why revoice it if the whole original set of tracks was available?

    @simpleexplodingmaybe

In regards to the recasting, you might find this an interesting read.

I do remember that it was definitely complicated reasons, and the original voices were added (I think) after the new voices were done. Interesting series of events.

I think for SH3 (I may be wrong) but the original voices were not possible due to the main VA for Heather wasn't contactable to do the contracts.

I do recall the port of SH3 HD being not bad. Depends if you can deal with the new VA.

Got myself a retail copy of Barrow Hill: The Dark Path a couple days ago, and making some progress.

I have a soft spot for British-made horror point and clicks. Yes, that's a very specific soft spot, don't ask. This one has some clear modern influences (the puzzles aren't obscure as hell, for once), but the atmosphere and general feeling is all there.

    Currently playing Root Letter.

Not really one for visual novel type games generally, but this is a good detective story rather than the usual teen romance rubbish.

Thought I would give it a go given Game were selling it for 15 and offering 17 trade in value. Likely to finish it in about four days but as they are basically paying me to play it...

@FrostPan I had no idea, thanks for the tips.

SH2 is still tense as fuck. I can still broadly remember what I'm doing and it's quite linear anyway but no quite remembering the order of things or where enemies are made things a headfuck right from entering the apartment building.

I had a go at Starwhal on PS4 tonight. I nearly bought it on Wii U,but it eventually popped up on PS Plus. I'm glad I didn't go for it in the end. Its a nice idea. It's essentially Joust crossed with Lunar Lander, but the controls are just a little too drunk for my liking. In fact, chasing the gold/platinum medals is rage inducing.

The multiplayer is also pretty annoying without 4 people to play with. The AI are too perfect in movement and yet for some reason give up for brief moments.

Not much fun whilst it lasted, unfortunately.

Forza Horizon 3. Took me ages to get it working, and am still really enjoying it. Not even got to the add-on yet.

Battlefield 1 Single player (free on Xbox gold this weekend)

While the setting is new for gamers, playing the tank missions and its not very good. Same old bad AI, the tank escort is just naff, same old gameplay, different weapons so far. Looks nice

Deadly premonition only about 2 hours in really enjoying it so far. Graphics are ok on places and shocking in others I'll stick with it and see where the story goes.

MGS V. I'm actually having some fun with it after using a few pokes. Infinite suppressor kinda breaks the game but I hadn't played it since release day so at least I'm getting some value from it. Maxed out all base building shit too as I had no interest in all the micro-management.

Resi 7 and going back to Silent Hill 2 have given me a real itch to play that. If I see a cheap physical copy I'm gonna be on it but don't know about paying console digital marketplace prices for a download

As may be obvious from other threads: Zelda BotW.

Or BotWGotY as it may soon be known ;)

Barely even touched Fast RMX yet

I'm playing Arkham Oranges, I thought I completed this but... I couldn't start a new game plus... that said I seemed to have deja vu while playing it so far.

Would you not be able to tell by looking at trophies/achievements?

Anyway. Played Zombi (PS4) yesterday and will probably play a little more today. It's not bad for a PS+ game. Making backups of my save file every few missions because if you die you start as another servivor but with none of the loot. Unless you can go and search the last body for the bag?

The Last Guardian is such a fucking grind of set pieces. It's like art house Uncharted.

I paid about a fiver for a 360 copy on Amazon. Think the PS3 is the definitive version.

Playing stories: path of destinies with my OH. Getting in the occasional Stardew Valley sesh, but mostly playing Hyper Light Drifter. Just started Drifter. The pixel art is really something special. Enjoying the sense of mystery and gameplay is good too.

Dragon Age Inquisition as I never did the DLC. Played it on disk before, downloaded this time and don't remember it being so buggy before.
Very slow loading character model/info when changing weapons/armour/acc, even the loading screens are buggy (especially the black one where the logo and surrounding area in corner look like missingno from Pokemon).

And then there's the jump... Fuck me that's unnecessary as it makes things difficult to pickup/open at times without jumping up and down a few times first and even when you stick to path you end up getting stopped by a pebble and have to jump. I've stopped doing sidequests, especially the shard collection as DA ain't a platformer. Jumping worse than LBP.

Can't remember it being this shit.

Catching up with my backlog I've been playing the heavy rain / beyond: two souls collection. Brilliant games. Enjoyed heavy rain and beyond is already even better. Will probably go back and get the platinums as I want to see all the choices and endings anyway. Anyone know of any more of these high production value "interactive dramas" on either ps or Xbox console these last two generations? (Not VN, rarely are those good I find).

One of my favourite games ever. Took over a year to get around to trying the ps+ version but so glad I did. Enjoy.

@Fourfoldroot sounds like you would probably enjoy Telltale's output or the new King's Quest. Although I don't think they have different endings, characters and story are the main focus.

Otherwise... Life is Strange? I guess. Not many developers follow Quantic's example.

Steep. Except I'm not really because the controls keep crapping out (on PC with Xbox one controller via Bluetooth). Controller works fine on other games. I might need a refund.

Played and loved Life is Strange too.
Don't like Telltales games much, there is simply zero gameplay or altered story states. Through these games, and Until Dawn (also fantastic) you have to stay alert and have a degree of reflex and dexterity lest people die and the story and ending be altered. Telltale games don't seem to have that dynamic nature.
