I bought it on Switch. Also had it on PC since day one but never really clicked with it.

On Switch though its very addictive.

Anyone else find the whole thing a bit sick? I guess it is supposed to be

I got this on the switch against my better judgement, i dont really like rogue like games, but this is very good. Its quite simple gameplay but the variety is amazing. I thought it was too expensive for an indie but it will probably be the game i play the most on the switch.

I might even get cave story after this.

I'm not sure I'd recommend cave story at that price, it's just absurdly expensive, great as it is.

I just had Guppy twice in three games on the Switch version. I never managed it once in 200 hours on the pc version. I seem to be getting lots of transformations, with both Leviathan and Seraphim in recent runs too.

Any tips on finding secret areas?

Found a random cash register behind a rock, used a bomb to blow it up and put in 10 coins it then exploded and gave me 2 coins back! The room was after you walk through the gold door frame

Why was it even there, what the hell am I doing? Haha. I love the game though but there's loads of stuff I just don't understand whatsoever.

I accidentally dropped a bomb in an area why you can purchase stuff and then it come up as a blue map has appeared in the basement, whhhyyyyyy?

    @CompetitiveDad

Not everything in the game is necessarily beneficial or rewarding! I fought three bosses in a challenge room and got a key and a bomb as a reward. Look for empty spaces between rooms on the mini map. You'll be lucky sometimes that way.

@CompetitiveDad The Secret Room is normally sandwiched between two rooms on either side, so look for a gap.

The Super Secret Room is normally on the tile before the boss room.

Blue map is for donating ten coins to the machine.

Slot machines have a random but increasing chance of blowing up after you put a coin in.

Secret rooms are usually placed in the gap where three rooms meet. One per stage. They also will have all three sides walls approachable without needing flight or bombs to get there.

Super secret rooms are usually near the boss room and will only ever be connected to a single room. If there's not a candidate near the boss look near dead ends.

And no matter what, at every opportunity, try and make your Switch crash by flooding the screen.

Jera Rune/Blank Card seems to be the easiest way, and it's hilarious.

I noticed this got patched on PS4 very recently. Preparation for Afterbirth+ at last?

Not that I’m fussed, play it on Switch these days, and not that often. Not a criticism, I’ve pretty much exhausted it after hundreds and hundreds of hours across multiple platforms.

Not sure if it's due to the patch but the game is so much more random now in the enemies I'm facing and the items that I recieve, every run feels completely different.

In the boss room I would normally face Monstro 9 out of 10 times. (switch).

    Loving it even more now.

This is so good. It's really starting to sink it's teeth into me now. I can't seem to get very far though as my impatience always gets me killed. It's such a different game since the patch, so many secrets!

    0 Mom kills?!

To be fair, she's a dirty whore.

    Feet everywhere.

I get chronic resetitis on BoI. I wish there was a quick restart on the Switch version. If the first item room is a rubbish item, RESET. If I get hit on the 2nd level and don't get a Devil Deal, RESET.

I often feel the urge too, but if anything, I've learned that runs that start awfully often go on to become super-OP while runs that start really well can often go to shit later on. BoI taught me to not reset and keep trying. Therapeutic lesson for me involved there, actually.

Do the seed codes only work on the same platform? Can I take the code from my Switch and input it on the PS4..

When I pick up a card, say 2 of spades and then I use it is the perk with me until I die?

This game is sooo good!!! So many hidden things. Picked up an item that made objects gleam, had acid tears so destroyed a rock which revealed a trap door to a treasure chest!!!

Yeah, picking up a single power can often totally change the game - but not always in a good way! I've had some rubbish runs that have become amazing after getting good item combos.

    @CompetitiveDad

2 of spades doubles your number of keys, so it's a one-time change of inventory. There are cards that trigger one-time events like this (inventory changes, teleport, spawning stuff, damage enemies, reveal map of current floor etc.), and cards that give you perks (strength, flight, etc.)--these last until you leave the room.

The only exception is the Chariot, which gives you invulnerability for a few seconds (like the Unicorn item).

I know, I picked up something like a worm which made my tears bend and I couldn't aim for shit! Luckily I managed collect something which turned the run in my favour! Brilliant

@DrStrangelove excellent, thanks for the heads up. I think I'm far to hasty with my decision making, I've been using items as soon as I collect them thinking those stack.
I'm sure someone posted a webpage which details each pick up I'll have a look back and see if I can find it.

    Think I'm -73 now!!! :)
