I got my tapestry sorted for my DA: O warden and choices, then left the "2" section as-is due to having not played the game.

Pressed the World Sync button, which I hope means the DA: Inq will retain these choices (?)

Is the "open beta Keep" supposed to be something I can actually download and play in? I haven't found any option like that yet.

Going through that animated choice story video it reminded me how amazing origins was and how average 2 was. Really cant wait now as 3 looks just like 1.

Can I do this keep thing to make choices if I haven't played this before?

I assume there will be default choices placed on those who haven't played any others, but I may not agree with those choices.

I didn't realise that I'd linked my Xbox account to Origin, so when I've gone on this Keep thing it's found all of my data! Thank god :D

@MrSensible I had the opposite experience as i realised that i had somehow linked my xbox account to an old origins id and it took forever to remember the details :S. heh.

Epic being the key word. Please don't be the tedious affair that was DA2.

I think there's little chance of it ending up anywhere near as repetitive as DA2 (which I am really enjoying, FWIW). The game looks huge.

What gets me is that when it was originally revealed, it was supposed to take place in Ferelden, Orlais, The Dales, The Free Marches and Nevarra. I was hoping we'd see some of Tevinter and Arlathan as well. Now it's just Ferelden and Orlais (The Dales are in Orlais, so I'm hoping we still get to go there).

It still looks enormous, so I'm not too fussed. But there's loads of places in Thedas that I'd love to visit.

@SnowmanRR I put it off for ages thanks to word of mouth. My friends (pretty much all of whom are BW fans) were either negative or mixed towards it, so I thought I'd leave it for the time being. Then more stuff just came along.

I've been really hyped for Inquisition the last few months, so I replayed Origins (+DLC I'd missed) and started DA2 last week, and I'm surprised how much I'm enjoying it. The only slightly off-putting thing so far is that my Hawke sounds a bit like Bayonetta when I lay on the snark.

Ultimately for me it will come down to the combat. DAO had great combat that I think the game failed to instruct you on properly. Veterans of Bioware games had no trouble adjusting I think but I played about 50 hours thinking the difficulty was broken before it somehow clicked you are supposed to pause the game and line stuff up. (Likewise after Mass Effect 2 included effective tutorials for the first time I actually returned to Mass Effect and it was a different game).

Dragon Age 2 was horrible though, strategy thrown out the window, paper enemies just appearing from nowhere until the tap was turned off.

Reports are saying DAI's combat is between 1&2. I didn't see any merit at all in 2, so whether that means the gameplay in 3 is going to be something I even like is totally up in the air.

It's such a funny genre really. In any fps or platformer, you know ahead of time what to expect from the bread and butter gameplay. But combat varies so wildly across what we (erroneously?) call RPGs you just can't know if it will be fun until you are doing it. Every Final Fantasy review seems to be about the new combat system. I haven't played those games but read the reviews.

The Polygon piece I linked above says that though it feels like a middle ground between the two, it tends to hew closer to tactics and greater difficulty. The writer played the opening few hours three times and said that he never tired of the combat.

There's a few other previews that have gone up, so you can have a read around and see what others say. Beside that, there's been a ton of streams and stuff over the last few months that are all up on Youtube, so you should be able to get some kind of feel for it from those.

FWIW, I thought DA: O's combat was a bit too compromised on console. It was clearly meant to be played on PC. DA: I looks, to me, to be a decent mix of Origins PC's more considered, tactical approach and DA2's pace.

@ubergine the combat operations in this is your choice, it has the top down view and pause like origins so you can play it strategically. If people don't like that they can drop the difficulty and play it more like an action game. I'm going for the pause method.

I'm excited for this. Like many of you I thought DA2 sucked, but the storyline and characters were enough to make me push through and complete it. I may take a trip to India to pick this up cheap on EA Access..

So I got Arl Eamon's father's name wrong in a codex. Old name already existed. We've decided Arl Eamon had two dads.— Patrick Weekes (@PatrickWeekes) November 3, 2014

    Edit: It worked.

I'm really looking forward to this! I've had the PS4 Deluxe Edition pre-ordered at Amazon for a good while now.

It definitely looks like BioWare have upped their game when it comes to the DA world this time. I've seen plenty of varied areas in the preview vids they've shown off so far and the character creator looks nicely detailed too.

Does anyone know if there's going to be an additional character included with the Deluxe version, as seems to be BioWare tradition for the majority of its games? DA:o CE had the brilliant Shale and, if I remember correctly, DA2 CE had the rather boring Sebastian included.

I'm sure I remember reading something that said they weren't going to do that this time.

    EDIT Here.

    @Ror1984

Ah, cheers for finding that. Probably for the best as it was a bit stupid of BioWare to deny people who bought the vanilla versions of their games some decent characters, who added so much to the respective experiences, like Shale in DA-O or Javik in ME3.

Yeah, I agree. It's never really bothered me personally, as they tend to be free to day one buyers and DA2 is the only game I haven't bought day one so far (so no Sebastian Vael for me), but it's a bit shit that anyone else misses out without ponying up.
