    No way, it took so much longer than the previous ones :) that or I had ran out of patience hours before.

    For basically the entire game the story is just The Matrix with dinosaurs and then everything comes right at the end... Pacing is a thing that they may want to learn about.

    That looks like a massive spoiler. Please tell me it's not.

    It's not a simulation thing, no. I mean robots taking over the world and Aloy trying to find out whats going on.

    Well... there's the part where the humans create machines that can self-replicate and feed on bio-fuel, that then turn on humanity and wipe them out, turing Earth into a barren ash wasteland.

    Apart from that, no, nothing alike.

    Started this at the weekend and am now about 15 hours in. Just did my first cauldron. Hugely impressed at how good the combat is for an open world game, and a decent challenge that forces you to use all the tools available to you even on normal difficulty. And my gosh it's pretty. I'm constantly running out of wire, though.

    Its very cheap to buy from merchants, just get in the habit of stocking up when you see one.

    I was exactly the same :D

    Did the first bandit camp before I went out tonight. That Nil (or whatever his name is) seems a real shady character. I was sure he was leading me into s trap...

    I kind of agree on human enemy AI. It's kind of like, 'Oh look someone's been murdered. Oh well, shit happens'. It kind of works with machines cos they are machines. I realise it's probably a hard thing to achieve in a game though.

    Had some fun with a lone sawtooth though. It wasn't really on the way to where I was going but though I'd get some practice in. Was good fun, really enjoying the game so far.

    Although there is one vantage point near the embrace that I can't figure out how to get to and it's bugging me.

    I did my first bandit camp tonight and yeah, fighting the human enemies is not nearly as entertaining as the dinos.

    Enjoyed the challenges a lot more and knocked out the first 3. Didn't even notice the logs dotted around until I did that challenge! They work well as a way to teach you some strategy with each weapon. Better than the tutorials.

    There is definitely too much of Ubisoft's game design in this for me, but oh boy, the beasts are spectacular. One of the rare non-horror games where I am actually scared from time to time.

    @Turbey

    I was 20 hours until I realised there was a heavy melee button :(

    Finished this last night with all collectibles, cauldrons, bandit camps and corrupted zones done. Fantastic game and a great ending.

    Nice work on the Stormbird! I had a fight against one last night which was fun as I had overridden a frost Bellowback to my side :)

    I thought that at first but then I realised that instead of 20odd 'towers' there were around five, same with bandit camps, same with cauldrons. For me they put in just enough of each ubithing to keep it fun without going overboard

    @funkstar

    Yeah, I'd agree with that. If there was a cauldron for every single machine, that would have been fairly annoying.

    Though I'd probably perversely enjoy it, thinking about it :)

    Still not found my first cauldron, hoping to stumble on it later as the intrigue is getting to me now, I want to see one.

    First one's ace! Follow main quest to Mareo village and talk to everyone in there - one of them will mark it on the map for you

    @funkstar Fair enough, that does sound alright - still a bit too much icon vomit and a too obtrusive UI (even in dynamic mode) imo, but the battles/beasts more than make up for it.

    Cheers Quad, will head that way.

    I've done at least one of each of the other tasks so that's next on my list of things to see. Corruption zones are a lot of fun and climbing the Tallnecks is great, game really shines in those moments.

    Any advice on tackling Rockbreakers? There's a corrupted zone area with a couple of, obviously, corrupted versions and they just destroy me so quickly :D

    Take their feet off so they can't tunnel, then freeze and go to town.

    Blast sling, sticky mines (if you want it to explode underground tremors style) or blast bombs. Dead in under 30 seconds.

    Alternatively, wander in with a TJ disc launcher or ravager cannon and go all Arnie on their ass

    The only one I encountered was on it's own. And I was high up on a rock. Took a while, but was easy. Don't know if that's helpful or not

    You didn't clear the corrupted zones?
    I thought you'd smashed through everything.

    Me? No, I stopped the main quest once I'd got all the power cells, got the armour and then ponced around in the wild for a while, but I missed a few things. After I completed it, I'm back in the wild again now, hoovering it up. I've got maybe 4-5 vantages to do, a couple of corrupted zones and maybe a couple of cups left I think.
