Latest is that 2019 will be the 'year of Batman' with 3 Bat related films released to celebrate the characters 80th Anniversary with Gotham City Sirens, Batgirl then The Batman.

Plus some animated films as well.

Diane Lane was on a talk show and someone asked her if she could say anything about it and did she think it would be better than The Avengers. Her answer was "No and no! Sorry to dissapoint".

Cue all kinds of fanboy meltdowns and nerd rage.

She/the studio later issued a statement to clarify:

Diane meant "sorry to disappoint" in reference to revealing anything concerning "Justice League" that is not already out in the public, and, was declining to comment on a film (Avengers) that she has not seen.

She is thrilled to continue her role as Martha Kent, and appreciates your excitement for "Justice League".

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to clarify this.

I haven't seen the clip but I thought she'd be a bit more media savvy to fall for the old "double question" trap.
    Ouch though

Well this just happened. I had no idea Snyder's daughter committed suicide at 20. How very sad.

Joss Whedon taking over directing Justice League.

This shits pretty unimaginable, can't believe it's actually true. I guess the Batgirl announcement was a precursor to this.

    Best wishes to the Snyders.

There have been rumours going around they've basically filmed 3 different movies and they can't decide which one to go with. They've got the perfect guy in Whedon to pick up the pieces I guess.

    I genuinely hope it's a great movie.

Joss is better at writing/directing. If they've already filmed it all I'm not sure how much of his stamp he could put on it.

Very sad about Zack Snyder's daughter though, what an awful thing to happen.

I'm not sure the point is to put his stamp on it. He's filling a hole ratehr than being given any creative control.

I know, but it seems a lot of people have renewed hope that the film will be good now that Whedon is finishing it.

Yeah, this will very much be like the talented caretaker manager taking the team down at the end of the season.

For me Whedon adds more as a writer than a director. His 'stamp' is a very particular type of humour. Sure he knows how to string a story together and that reflects in his directorial style, but him taking this over at this point is next to pointless. I assume it's being done as a bridge into him taking over control of all the projects.

    I disagree.

Apparently they have another few months of reshoots coming up, plus Whedon will have the final cut of the movie.

I'm not saying he's going to drastically overhaul the entire thing, but there's definitely enough room there for him to have an impact on the final movie.

Having editing control over the final cut is significant. Additional scenes/reshoots aren't a particularly big deal when the bulk is complete.

I'd be amazed if this is step 1 for for the DCEU Whedonverse.

I dont imagine much will change, the film must be locked at this point.

    Sad story from the Snyders.

To be honest, DC would be silly to not give Whedon as much control/input as possible.....im kind of hoping George Miller increases his involvement too because that would be one of the best directing/producing dream teams ever put together.

Is that actually confirmed? I would be surprised if he was doing anything other than getting it over the line.

From the way he comes across in interviews, I don't think Whedon would even have accepted doing it if he was asked to take a lot of control. I'm sure he'll have had people fiddle with his stuff in the past and would know how it feels, so I really can't see him doing that to anyone else's hard work.

It's a bit different when the original owner is willingly stepping away though. Whedon hasn't taken it from Snyder.

Not that I'm aware of, though I guess it depends on how long Snyder is in mourning/putting the family's lives back together. With 7 other kids dealing with the loss of a sister I imagine he could be out for a bit.

Warner Bros. originally offered Snyder the option to push back the release date on the movie, but he and his wife, Deborah Snyder — who is an executive producer on all the DC Universe films — opted not to do that. Snyder wanted to add a couple of scenes to Justice League after screening a rough cut of the movie and brought Whedon on board to write them. By the time shoots were scheduled to begin, Snyder decided it wasn’t time to head back to work. Whedon agreed to shoot those particular scenes and edit them into the film.
