When I was 19 I feigned my own death. I got all my friends in on it too. My girlfriend at the time was devastated. Thing is, we forgot to tell her so years later she still thinks I'm dead. She's refused to move on and has built my memory into that of the perfect man, and she's never been able to find anyone to take my place. Basically it's ruined her life, but you have to laugh.

@rockavitch Fair enough, but the whole thing just makes me uncomfortable. Including her prank, that's also fucked up.

@CosmicFuzz Aye was surprised by hers last year and even though it was well prepared I jokingly promised revenge. Knew she's see the funny side like I did last year otherwise I wouldn't have done it. Hopefully that's the end of it like she said or I'll have to be prepared for next year.

I went on holiday with some chums once and "borrowed" their daughter (excused myself for 20 minutes while we were all at dinner). Had her stashed in my basement for years now.

Going to bring her on her 16th birthday, going to be a hoot!

@CosmicFuzz Last year I was left to think the girl I put life on hold and moved to a country I did not speak the language cheated on me. We're now even and seeing how it affects only us it's no big deal. It's not like I attacked or fooled a stranger. Should be a nice relaxing year next year so it's a win win.
She is so going to fuck you up next year.

How did rockavitch tell his fiance it was a joke in the end? I'm imagining something along the lines of the ending to the first episode of The Office, when Brent tells Dawn he was only kidding about firing her, whilst she's in tears. Que very awkward silence.

Rockavitch should put march 31 in his 2015 calendars right now.

I thought Googles automatic Hasselhof photo bomb was a joke. Turns out it wasn't.

The guys at Google have been earning their keep again, this year enhancing Maps with a great little Pacman mode :)

Seems you can play it anywhere in desktop view, but some areas have dedicated maps with mobile support - clues here: https://support.google.com/maps/answer/6178227?hl=en

The internet can't seem to decide whether this is an april fools or not.

    https://www.amazon.com/oc/dash-button

If it's real it's a clever bit of marketing to launch now, in this way, to create a lot of PR around whether it is or isn't.

If it's an April Fool it's a shit one. It's not a bad idea at all and you wouldn't be a "fool" for falling for it. There's a few flaws to the concept but fundamentally it's something that could easily exist.

Wonder what that cheeky scamp rockavitch is up to this year.

I'm going with "I shagged your mum and she's refusing to get an abortion!" complete with faked scans, text messages and her mum prearranged to pop round at 10am for a nice cuppa.

It doesn't claim to solve that issue though. The ability to re-order at the exact point at which you realise you run out is good user experience. Evian already had a device that works in exactly this way to stick on your fridge, and that's definitely real.

Apparently the Amazon one is real, unless they're really dedicated to the joke.

Nothing should ever be unveiled at this time of year.

Last year my organisation unveiled a brand new website, company logo and change to our email address domain - all on April 1st - our marketing department are idiots.

It's a point of the year that pisses me off. We can't tell if the Amazon thing is a joke or not and they'll linger around for several days afterwards so every strange story we read online for the next month needs careful checking. We're not 8 years old. It's the online equivalent of this.

    Your shoe laces are undone.
    Are they?
    No, April Fools!

    Hilarious.

That's a point. Weren't we already meant to have things to put on our fridges (or buy new fridges more like) which would RFID everything in there, monitor your usage and automatically order stuff to arrive in time for your current consignment running out?

@CosmicFuzz Nothing planned this year, no woman to torture. I have a somewhat odd day tomorrow and the only people I actually will see is whoever is on the street before 7am and after 9pm. 14 hour shift doing security at an empty unused warehouse alone...

Forgot to say about last year. I ended up sending her a text from across the room saying "At least I didn't cheat *winky smiley*". She understood immediately.

Surprised we lasted as long as we did now I think back lol
