I stupidly sold my ps3 when I got my ps4 as thought I could use my 360 for Netflix upstairs forgetting that I needed xbox live to play Netflix (Wtf!).

I have no intention of renewing my xbox subscription (1st time in 7 years) now, but I want something to play Netflix on upstairs, anything cheaper than buying another ps3?

Chromecast is my pick, 1080p playback and relatively hassle-free, but it's not without it's shortcomings. I've made a thread for it.

Roku is probably a better choice if you like to tinker and add somewhat less salubrious sources. Plus you can stream, media from a Plex server.

I just checked hot UK deals for decent deals and people seem to neg them a lot, what's the big deal with it? Sounds perfect unless I can pick up a ps3 for 50 quid..

Heh, I've got 12 Netflix devices in my living room!

Give yourself 5 or gig, you're worth it.

You could get the Roku. It is relatively cheap.

Also if you happen to have a smart TV you can download the netflix apps. Some DVD/BluRay players may also be netflix compatible

They're not officially out in the UK yet so there's not many services supported. If you're primarily interested in Netflix then it'll be fine.

    Portable view - Never forget.

What are they designed for then? Can you change dns settings on it to use unblock us?

What about one of those android sticks, can't think of the name. They're barely bigger than a USB stick and are about 30-40 I think.

Reading db's thread has sort of out me off. Think I'll look out for one of those Android tab dongles or a cheap ps3. Any other suggestions welcome

What kind of phone or tablet do you have? If it's Android or iOS then you just need the lead to connect it to your TV. You won't get 1080p on Android (unless its the latest Nexus 7) but it's a possible alternative to getting another box?

Have a galaxy s4 and note 10.1 so chromecast would work with that. I'm thinking or the price do u just suck it up and sub to Xbox live for 29 quid..

None of that has anything to do with Chromecast, it's resolution is entirely independent of your phone or whatever. It doesn't stream from your hardware, it streams directly off the internet.

Yeah I get that, just meant for the chrome browser and general connectivity, unless it literally makes mo difference what phone/tablet u have

Does Plex work differently on a device such as a Roku, when compared to PS3? I've just set it up for the first time on my Playstation, hopefully so my other half can access video content when I'm not in (as she has no idea what to do) but I'm having issues specifically with subtitles.

I want it set up so we can put the subs on or off from the device itself, while watching. Is this possible on a Roku? The PS3 doesn't get on with this at all it seems. I need to be able to toggle it on the fly.

EDIT: Just realised that I posted this in the wrong thread, but I guess this is as good a place as any so I'll leave it!
