I actually didn't find WoF *that* hard. I mean, once you get your tactics down, then you should be able to get though it relatively unscathed

Not played Terraria today (first time in weeks) due to OlliOlli :)

    This game is goooood.

I tried making a day bloom farm, planted loads in clay pots but I can't pick them!? Usually swing my sword but no joy. How do I get my lovely flowers?

Use the pick on one and the harvested seeds on the rest. Using seeds on daybloom automatically harvests and replants it.

I can't seem to kill the Destroyer a second time and it has turned into rigmarole. Star Cannon was a waste of time, guess I'll have to buy a shotgun.

Shotgun, crystal bullets with incessant whacking with a legendary melee weapon. Flee to the nurse halfway through. You should do well enough.

Nope. It's tiresomely difficult and has bored me of the game. Pretty clear they intend you to do hardmode in multiplayer, the destroyer is simply ridiculous.

Speaking of multiplayer, anyone that wants to a have a bit of a sesh sometime, add me if you like. PSN: Phily_50.

I will say though I'm not half as far along in the game as some of you guys are.

Add me if you want, I'm ubergine on PSN, but it's usually pretty unlikely I'm ever on when you guys are for the time difference - and I'm just not playing much now Christmas period is done.

My first attempt of the Destroyer battle didn't last long. I was definitely doing damage, but those damned pod things and their bloody lasers made fairly short work of my Adamantite armour.

I don't think the lava in the base of my arena had any impact although I did lay down a ton of spiked balls, but they disappear after 30 seconds or so :(

I also think my arena' stop narrow to be able to avoid the Destroyer's head, so I might need to make some changes. Although I didn't try any potions to give me positive buffs, I'm note sure how much of a difference they would have made....

    Any suggestions?

Oh you have to use potions. Iron Shlong, regeneration, bowl of soup, faster movement, I even use hunter and archery potions. Part of the reason I'm sick of fighting it is my prep is so tedious.

I've also got a heart statue in the arena on a five second timer. I keep forgetting to equip a philosophers stone I think, which lowers the cool down for using healing potions.

I'm quite annoyed about it because the one time I beat it I did it pretty easily. Seems choosing to make Excablibur instead of the megashark is coming back to bite me. It's a long and tedious fight.

    GLOL!!

What weapon would you suggest? I'm using Adamantite sword and Repeater with Hellfire arrows.

Legendary Phasesaber, Shotgun, Crystal Bullets. Coming from a guy who beat him twice. Equip a cross necklace. Shoot him when he's far away (Crystals will do lots of damage) and then wail away on him with the Phasesaber when close (lots of DPS due to high damage and fast swing speed). I did it without potions.
EDIT: Not saying you shouldn't use potions. Definitely do so. I'm just giving exigence.

@Barrel_Trollz - shotgun, you say.... Hmm 60 Gold. I'll need to save for a bit :)

And I'll need to get hold of a Cross Necklace too :)

Thanks for the tips - I'll do a bit more prep and then try again :)

@Flying_Pig Of course, you could always exploit the Cross Necklace plus Meteorite glitch, but...
Save your immoral preparation for Skeletron Prime ;) you'll need it.

Back playing this. Decided to explore some more, to see if I can find some Hardmode loot, but no real joy so far. Where's the best place to search for Mimics and Chests? Is it worth returning to the Dungoen?

@Flying_Pig Dungeon is good for a bit of easy gold, but if you're hurting for cash I would recommend storming through the Jungle and grabbing stuff with abandon.
Basic underground or your wall of flesh bridge sometimes holds mimics. Really you have no better chance anywhere.

@Barrel_Trollz - thanks - been through the Corruption down to the Underworld and been seeing if I can find any Mimics on my WoF bridge as you suggest. Nothing yet, but I'll keep looking (managed to get to the edge of the world in the Underworld this morning) and I'm also hunting for Heart Statues (again- nothing).

In positive news, I do now have a Shotgun with Crystal bullets :)

Glad they are adding option to turn the rear touch off. I'll probably start again from scratch once this is out.

Running out of steam now. Just can't get to grips with the Destroyer and can't find any decent loot to help me out.

Still, an amazing game that's completely absorbed me for the past 2 months.

The hard mode thing.... (I'm miles behind you guys now :( ) Do you start a new world then play there to mine things before sending them back through piggy banks or...?

@aros - Just to build on what Andy said - you keep your world and everything which youve built up in it. Killing the Wall of Flesh just triggers certain 'changes' which make it Hard.

It'll become pretty clear once you get to that stage - just make sure you get the pwnhammer from killing the WoF - I missed it the first time and had to kill him again /o\

Ah, I see. But you could piggybank things between worlds if you wanted right?
