    Ok thanks. Miiight get it, I just want to fly around in a spaceship.
    Elite will likely be the better option then.

    Been playing this again. There's more NPCs now, but not a single one that moves. There's still the same structures everywhere, but no roads, or homes. It's a bloody weird universe.

    I want to look at pretty colours while chillin', is this the right game for me?

    He also wants utterly desolate and barren rock planets with nothing on them. It's like Elite was made just for him.

    I would get Elite, but I don't want to support their shitty DRM

    While I don't disagree, that's a stupid reason to opt for this game over elite. NMS devs were far more dishonest about the game than the elite devs could ever dream of being.

    Yes, that's exactly what I do. Spark one up with some cans and just trip out for a bit

    It's a funny game - tried it out again with the new additions etc and there's still not really that much occurring, yet I've just sank 3-4 hours in without really noticing. I just sort of pootle and play it my way i guess, like a stoned explorer

    They were dishonest, but I never bought into any of that. I always knew exactly what it would be, their promises were dumb. Not that it doesn't factor into my decision - it's why I might get it on sale, I'd never pay full price for it.

    So I found a planet ludicrously abundant with Emeril and sold 1500 for half a million. Went mad mining all around a trading station I found and sold another lot from my suit for less, and then went to sell the 3000 I had in my ship and it offered about 150k. Seems they now have it so selling stuff devalues that stuff in the local economy, so I'm going to try hauling it elsewhere and hope the economy isn't impacted there as well.

    Bit irritating as I bought a very expensive mining tool on the understanding I could make that money back on this stupidly rich planet, but it does mean I have to try and get it past space pirates in my piece of shit ship.

    The space combat is still terrible - on survival at least. I get massacred.

    I found a mountain of gold earlier. I was there for twenty minutes in toxic rain just hoovering it up. If someone said to me, "fancy mining a gold mountain for twenty minutes" I'd have said bollocks, but here I am doing it anyway

    @quadfather

    Lol, there's something strangely hypnotic/relaxing about mining the shit out of stuff in this game.

    This is still a comedically simplistic grind with no real freedom of control or gameplay. It's 100% about the visuals, which become very samey very quickly.

    Yeah it is. I think the only reason I keep playing it is actually when I don't really want to engage in a game and just piss about. It's totally weird

    That's pretty much how I play. I just sink hours in doing the square root of fuck all.

    Yep, it's good for just zoning out and chilling around not achieving a great deal. Very oddly addictive in that respect. They've captured that hoovering up loot/minerals thing very well, it just feels satisfying even though you're not doing a fat lot.

    Changing the subject, I wish the storms were better, barely anything to them other than the pitter patter of rain, which is barely visible. Extreme storms would be awesome, something like in The Solus Project, they were bloody terrifying in VR.

    My base was on a raised piece of ground miles above everything else. All my base staff had disappeared and I had to unlock them all again. I think it's worth starting again with this update.

    @telboy007

    When/how does base building happen?

    I only bought the game yesterday, about 7 hours in so far. 7 hours of mining minerals.

    They'd sell more copies if they put that on their advertisements.

    Once you stumble upon a habitable base. Just build a signal booster when you are out and about.

    @telboy007 Yeh same here. Random bits of my base just got taken away too. The floors disappeared from some of it, and my stairs and things have just buggered off.

    What I don't get is, if you're moving ever closer to the centre of the universe, what's the point of having a base?

    Or is this where portals come in?

    Dunno. Dunno what I'm doing. I'm not moving towards the centre. Because after all these months I still just find it amusing giving animals and planets silly names. I honestly think I'm moving away from the centre. You know what. Fuck the centre.

    A bit annoyed at having to go through the base building tutorials again due to the new resource tweaks    and it seems a bit buggy but at least I've stumbled on some interesting terrain types including a planet full of bubbles with stargate looking structures.

    The mission board is a nice edition and the ship radar is a damn sight better. Still pootling about looking for a new planet to build a better base.
