It's a different band. Not sure why anyone expected it to entirely follow through earlier Nails.

Bit mellow for a NIN song but I like it nonetheless. Not the most obvious choice of song either.

It is indeed! $20 gets you the album, plus 3 remixes and a 28-page hardcover, plus a digital version of the album in a format of your choice and an immediate download of the new single.

The new single definiely seems to carry on the heavy electronica focus of Year Zero and The Slip, with some echoes of the more commercial sound of With Teeth. It might be just me, but I get heavy reminders of Survivalism from it.

I agree. It sounds more electronic, and it is as always different from what he did before, but out of that Year Zero seems to be the most similar.

    really?

The album has it's moments, but it's long, and probably not for everyone, as some tracks are slow.

The Downward Spiral was the 1st NIN album I picked up, and sort of liked it. With_Teeth rates as my fav NIN album.

I got the EP, not listened properly yet.
I like Head Down best, atleast off The Slip. When ever I hear Dicipline, all I see is *that* cartoon style video - heh

:Last week's edition of The First Time with Trent Reznor was really good.~2 hours of interview and chosen tunes, from a man who has really mellowed out by the sound of it. Really liked what he said about Johnny Cash's cover of "Hurt".

    ....

With Teeth was commercial shite. Even Trent admits that.

Spiral was his masterpiece. There's a reason it crops up all the time on lists of best albums ever made.

    That was awesome :D

Beside You In Time was a great album as well (as was the accompanying blu-ray).

Fun fact: Trent convinced Sony to update the codec so the blu-ray would sound as good as possible

Either way, With_Teeth is my favorite NIN album. If you say Trent views it as 'commercial shite' then why perform so many of the excellent tracks live ?

When the Downward Spiral was released, Kerrang! went nuts over it. I picked it up and was ultimately disappointed, as I didn't know what NIN were about, and was expecting heavy rock metal Metallica sounds.

Some years later, I viewed it in another light, and liked some of the tracks. Then I decided to take a step back and picked up Pretty Hate Machine. It was ok, but not raw sounding enough, and the finnal track 'ringfinger' has never worked for me, and really seems out of place on the album.

Next i would pick up Broken, which seemed like a mini album. Wish is quite good. The other album, Fixed, avoid.

Year Zero seemed a bit half-assed, although this track is quite good, and video works really well.

from WITH_TEETH, one of the most haunting tracks ever from NIN

Here's the live version taken from the Dvd. The curtain + video footage effect is excellent
