Apologies for the tedious topic, but I'd really appreciate recommendations for 10" tablets, Android, under £200.|
My Dad's after a tablet for basic needs - checking e-mail, surfing the net, posting offensive comments under Daily Mail online stories, etc...
Oh, and I think Mum might like Angry Birds.
If you can spare a moment and a few pearls of wisdom, I'd be very grateful.
Obviously, what I'm really looking for is the gospel of sub-£200 tablets suitable for my Dad, according to Vizzini.
But lesser mortals can apply.

You know this thread will be filled with jokes about your Dad having a 10" cock right?
@M83J01P97 I'd hardly use the word "enjoy" to describe the experience.
From a really quick look on Amazon the cheapest 'reliable' 10 inch tablet is the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 for £270. I would really recommend you stay away from the very cheap tablets, and unless you're buying used I don't see any known brands under £200. Is 7 inch too small? I have a Nexus 7 and I would definitely recommend it.
If I were you, I'd skimp and get the Nook HD+ with 32 Gb memory. I just picked one up for £112 with a Nook cover. The reviews claim that the screen quality is really good - I haven't had a tablet before so can't compare but I can't imagine what a better screen would look like. Obviously its not as bulky as a 10" tablet, being a bit smaller, but it seems large enough and therefore, just right. With Google Play and all the other apps like Chrome, etc, I'm not even going to root it as it works fine as is.
Is the Nook an actual tablet? I thought it was an e-reader like the original Kindle. Albeit without buttons.

I'd concur with the Nook HD+, it's probably the only half decent 'big' tablet you'll get for under £200.
And yeah it's a tablet, like the Kindle Fire is a tablet, except the HD+ has access to Google Play so it's not as forked.
Yeah - what he said, its a real tablet. In fact, if I had to classify it, I'd say its a Dad Tablet, so perfect for the OP.
I had read on here about how good it is, and then found some really good reviews from a lot of decent sites. When it came out it wasn't a particularly cheap product - it got great reviews for the hardware (especially the screen) but the fact it was limited to the Nook store unless rooted made it less appealing. When they added Google Play it made a lot more interesting, which seemed to coincide with a few big price cuts - as I said, you can easily get the 16Gb for £100 but I thought it was better to pay a fraction more for the 32 Gb and then add a 32 Gb microSD for 64Gb.
And how much is a Nexus 10 ? Hard to say if Dad is going to enjoy it twice as much as the half cost Nook.

I'd really consider a second hand ipad tbh , having seen my dad fumble around in android.
