Things always were bad back then. Go back further and look at the Templars. Totured till they had no option but to admit they worshipped the devil by the pope. All because of his greed.

Has anyone noticed how many men in red suits with beards you start seeing around this time of year? What's the deal with that?

I believe that's to celebrate when the Grinch stole presents, food and trees from the Whos.

Misremember misremember the 5th of November
    Gunpowder, treason & plot
I see no reason why gunpowder reason shall ever be confused by people who don't know their bloody history or references to it since.

The urge to rename the thread "RIP Guy Fawkes" is strong.

The worst thing about the Gunpowder plot is that it overshadows the Main plot of 1603.

To show the extent of his torture - during the time they had people sign their confessions after they obtained them - here is his signature after his torture compared to one from before.

You can only imagine what he had to endure, and what they must have done to his hands/fingers.

I think you'll find his explosion was successful, apparently he also looked like Richard Hammond.

News just, someone subjected to torture to extract confirmation of guilt or other information relating to possible terrorist atrocities may be harmed during such activity.

In other news Guido Fawkes was also tortured but didn't get any sun as he wasn't in Cuba.

    Yuk...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanged_and_quartered

Dragged to the execution point behind a horse, flaying your skin, then hung to the point just before death, then castrated, disemboweled, and beheaded in that order...

Then after death chopped into 4 pieces...

    Hard to imagine this really...

I bet that executioner was real nervous about executing those. Image, with a massive crowd that's come out to watch you do all that nasty stuff to a guy, you accidently just hang him to death.

He intended to destroy parliament whilst it was in session including killing himself.

    That is a suicide bomber.

He said that under torture so you could argue he just said it.
I don't see anything wrong with that :)
