    Hola,

The snake tongue woman is a bit of crap add to have in the middle of the screen when trying to engage in surreptitious work browsing.

In fact "sex sells" is probably the wrong angle on most EG adverts. Given a lot of traffic is school kids and 20 - 40 year old blokes at work, oiled titties and snogging is always going to be mistaken for dodgy porn browsing.

Not sure that is more embarrasing than say being caught reading about Animal Crossing but...

@Load_2.0 Had a fair amount of discussion about this provocative ad.

Sadly this one is from Microsoft and is to promote something currently on their entertainment service so is relevant to you guys as an audience. Just a bit of an off putting creative.

Will feedback again to my superiors about this one.

You could argue that is was effective in getting us to discuss it and makes the subject matter more noticeable.

I just don't like the thought of having a mouth full of snakes.

You say that, but the "recommended articles" on the front page are almost always sex based ones like the one about how Kojima is slutting up MGS5 or some ancient article about DoA Paradise. And they're not even cookie based recommendations, as they still appear on college PCs with no browsing history whatsoever.

@meme This is a separate recommendation which is externally selected.

This being the case I can get certain recommendations removed if you don't like them... the Kojima one you say?

The one about the metal gear stripper character, anything to do with Dead or Alive and anything anime with big tits appears in 'you may like'.

Basically, if its computer generated and has tits, EG thinks I may like it.

Oh, I don't mind them. I just thought it was interesting after Load's post.

Yeah, i dont mind it either, really. It just makes me laugh as they are laser targeted to get teenage boys to click them.

@nickthegun I will do some more research into how these are selected.. however we can remove certain articles from this widget if the community feels they shouldn't be promoted in this way.

I'm starting to see some quite... scammy links appear. Like this one about iPods

Which if followed is just an add for QuiBids.com (wiki link), which is one of those "penny auction" sites. If you don't know how it works, everyone puts in a minimum bid and whomever has the lowest unique bid wins the item (iPads and the like). However EVERYONE pays their bid, and there's often no winners.

Anyway I've seen a few of these ads pop up now for various sites like this. Just FYI.

The mobile version of the site auto-opened the App Store earlier today and took me to the entry for some football management game. Not impressed!

Gosh, that spinning cube on the mobile site couldn't be more intrusive if it tried!

Mobile site gave me a spinning cube for casino add which had no option to close. On next load an add appeared at bottom of screen for casino site, which was static, like ads in apps.

Yeah, it's fucking vile. It's also completely intrusive as I couldn't see a way to close it and it was covering all the goddamn menu options. An absolutely moronic inclusion.

Thank goodness it's EG adding intrusive, broken ads - thought I'd got some sort of malware on my phone. It is deeply horrible and I don't understand how it was ever considered okay.

TGI Friday or something? On my iPhone screen and won't go away. Covers up a fair chunk of screen real estate :(

Fuck me, the new mobile ads are horrendous. Can't we have a paid-for ad-free version? I'd gladly pay a few quid a month to not have to put up with this shit.

I'll report to this ad and get it disabled.

Unfortunately with the way these ads work you don't actually individually approve each one, just set criteria for what is acceptable or not. Obviously sometimes the advertiser is sneaky and does something like this.

Shitty cube just happened to me. How is that an effective way to get new customers? Mind, this is from the same industry that coined the word "eyeblaster".
