Wondering if gsync is going to change things a little and make higher powered cards obselete except for higher resolutions.

I honestly dont know. Will wait and see I suppose.

Well this market segment now has some competition, that is a good thing. Sure for most consumers it wont make a jot of difference but it is important for the future. If nothing can touch the titan at the top then new toys wont filter down.

Personally i am happy with my GTX770, and at the moment we have no idea how GSync and Mantle will pan out. I think we will see a bit of back and forth over the next year as we find the quirks of the new techs, Fun times ahead.

Wait until the aftermarket people deal with the cooling, casing and overclocking.

The MSI twinfrozr or what ever it's called will be pretty handy.

The problem with gsync could be Nvidia's reluctance to allow competitors to use their tech. I get the business reasons but it could sabotage potentially one the biggest innovations in years.

    Portable view - Never forget.

I would think that a monitor with a gsync scaler would work with amd as well.

Dead pleased I spent 350 on a monitor about 4 months ago. Cheered me right up, got a 120hz thinking I future proofed myself!

    Such is PC gaming!

The stock design is very unimpressive. Even if you get over the fact that the card looks cheap, it's still unimpressive. This screams for 3rd party coolers. The performance is there, but the current cooler just doesn't cut it. And I've heard that it might take a long while before AMD lets 3rd party solutions. So for the time being, "MEH!" sums up my impressions.

I can't afford one of these!

Will get one of the newer models next year maybe, but no way I can spend top dollar

I ended up getting a msi 280x instead. My 2 660ti have been on ebay for 4 days. I went back to Amd as nv surround doesn't cut it like eyefinity. Interestingly my pc seems to be snapper and sharper since. Don't get the framerates but gaming is now butter smooth. Arma3 plays lovely.

That's the difference between SLI and a single card solution.

My MSI 770 should be arriving today. Couldn't resist the Scan Daily Deal.

    300-400

I can't afford that. 150 is my ballpark! No gains really at that price point right now, next year beckons.

Yep, I usually pay between 150 and 200, anything more and the cost to performance gain ratio starts to take a dive.

The R9 290 is apparently 320 but it is up there with the titans and the 780s looking at the benchmarks. It seems like it makes big compromises on noise levels and power consumption though.

AMD coolers really are terrible, I replaced my 6870 (standard cooler) with a Sapphire 'Dual-X' 7970 a few months back - twice as powerful, half as loud, runs 30 to 40 degrees cooler.

If you must have a 290x, definitely wait for custom cooled versions.

I quite fancy a 290. I haven't upgraded in a long while and as I don't think I'll be getting a next gen console for quite some time I reckon beefing up my PC is a smart bet.

The stock cooling on the 290 is garbage with the card managing to hit a staggering 94c and it's supposed to be a noisy fucker too. Wait to see what Asus or MSI do with it.

Personally I went with a MSI 280X and have been very pleased with it. The card itself is a work of art and it's completely silent and the temp tops out at 62c. :D

Me too, but I'm envious of my friend's 215 770 - great price. The games would have been worth that 15 to me. As I mentioned to him yesterday, the difference between him getting the GTX 760 or the 770 is that I wouldn't have been jealous if he'd got a 760. :p

Heh, the only reason i went for a 770 over a 760 was to beat my brother who, not 2 weeks since bought a Palit Jetstream 760 which i was jealous about. Luckily i knew from the internet that there was to be a price drop shortly (which i did tell him about before he purchased...impatience is his downfall) so ended up buying the MSI 770 (IT'S ARRIVED!) which came with 2 extra games all for only 30 more.

His tears will sustain me for months...
