Yeah but but what if Russel Brand had Madeline Mcann and he smashed her on a rock live on the 9 o'clock news? What then? He wouldn't be so smart then would he. Yeah that's what I thought

    Called it

He made a thread trumpeting Milliband as the next prime minister after a pretty shallow speech that he didn't even write, delivered at a party conference.
I (and a lot of other people), thought it was a pretty good speech. He will be the next PM.

And he voted against AV because he though it guaranteed being offered PR instead.
Wrong. I voted against AV because it is an awful system and I don't agree with the argument; 'vote for change even if you don't like it because we can change it down the line'.

    @Tonka

No because I already asked if it was supposed to be an ironic joke.

I just didn't find it funny.

I would like a detailed breakdown of why it is ironic.

Quite likely, unless the Conservatives do a Blair to Brown style transition or he gets replaced by internal Labour politics, if only because British politics is a two party system where either the Unions anointed Labour candidate or the incumbent Conservative will win the next election. There isn't really a lot of choice, and it isn't a good thing.

I really can't see Milliband as the next PM. He'll get crucified in the TV debates.

I quite liked Brand in the video of him and Paxman, but only in the sense he was being angry and demagoguey and stuff, which is fun.

Errrr. yep, just to mirror above, of course Milliband will be next PM, it's how UK politics work! Red, blue, blue, red, red, red, blue yada yada yada.

It's just a question of how pissed off the populace are as to if it will be red or blue. Hell, he doesn't even need to get elected in. A hung parl, and wha-la! In like Flint.

I was amazed how long labour stayed in last time. I thought they wouldn't get that third term.

I guess endless magical wealth creation and still hating the tories counted for more than a totally fucked up war that nobody wanted.

There is zero chance he'll be next PM - just look at the muppet, he makes David Cameron seem charismatic.

All he has to do is not fail, and he'll be in.

He doesn't need to get elected to be PM, he just need to offer the liberals a better deal and sign with them when we get a hung parliament again.

Sincerely hope we get a hung parliament again, I hope it becomes the new norm.
Germany hasn't done too badly out of it.

Ah, didn't know that or I'd linked to that video, cheers. I'm Danish btw., but felt this discussion applies to any democracy/capitalist country, would be interested to see how bad it is in Denmark now..
