wii vga component cable

    if used a vga to red blue green lead atached to my wii would i only need to plug the red on in to hook it up to my monitor

    It won't work, as the Wii doesn't output in that format so it needs a specialised cable or converter. I used a cable for a while, and even that was a bit temperamental - it'd cut out during cut-scenes in some games, and in others it wouldn't display gameplay (all the Virtual Console games I have didn't work at all).

    As a rule, only games that support EDTV will workwith the Wii specific cable you can buy. I wouldn't recommend that way though, I'd recommend researching the other route and finding a good Component to VGA box.
