I recall GTA IV having similar issues. Back then, I had a Lv0 character for weeks.

Then I logged in one day to find I'd jumped up to Lv4. A slim hope that's the case this time around.

@Shikasama Yea the Top Fun wasn't that fun. The races, especially in the sewage area, are great fun...seeing a ton of high performance cars bouncing off each other never gets old.

Yea I logged in earlier and my characters were wiped. Hoping when I next log in they will appear.

I'm sort of dreading logging in tomorrow now with all these reports of wiped characters...

Is this format specific, or afflicting both platforms?

Might be worth taking screenshots of your progress on Social Club, just in case... with those, an email to R* might be enough to convince them to recreate where you were...

I played Top Fun earlier too - bit unfair with popping merrily along to the docks on my bike, as it only lasted as long as the other guy took to accidentally crash the jet he'd probably never flown before :/

Is there any way to guarantee you keep together in a team with your party when playing deathmatch?

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

I've given online a really good go and on about level 16 I think.

I really hate to say it but the online is a major grindathon which is totally designed to get you buying cash packs.

The reason I say this is the svarcity of decent paying missions and the amount of money you lose if you die quite a bit.

Just had an email from tp industries saying that if I come across any stolen items to take them to trevor and he will give me something for them. Ummmmm what items are those then? Cars? Great. I have to drive all the way out there.

Once you get a decent paying mission of around 10k you could replay over and over and build money that way......but now the replay function has been disabled. The ones u phone up for pay about 1 to 3k. U might be lucky and get a rare decent paying one and Simeon can fuck right off with the missions where you have to collect 2 cars which are on the move. They are impossible.

Really wanted to get sucked into this as I did with rdr but the design is based on you buying cash packs.

You realise you can bank your money at any time, so you don't lose it? You only lose money from the cash you're carrying at point of death, but you can use your phone to transfer it to your bank account, which protects it.

That only protects you from getting it nabbed by other players. Hospital fees still come out of your bank.

Sure, but that only happens in the open world that I've noticed. On missions and things (like deathmatches, races, etc) you don't get that charge. I view the open world as more of a glorified hub than anything else.

You may well be right. I certainly haven't noticed it though, I normally come out of them better off no matter how many times I die (and I've died a lot!). Only time I think I've ever lost money on a mission was through bad betting.

I'm a 100% certain you don't lose cash if you die during missions in the normal offline game. No idea about Online, but it might have a similar approach.

Pretty sure you're correct. Die in "fucking about mode" between missions = wasted, resurrect at hospital minus a fee. Die on a mission = resurrect without charge.

Fairly certain it's the same for both SP and Online, otherwise I doubt ANYONE would be making money at all in GTAO, particularly in Deathmatch missions and GTA races.

Last patch notes/changes confirmed you don't pay hospital fees in mission.

Open play, and you're looking at anything between $100 to $2000+.

I'm still up. Joined a sesh just to check my house is okay, and picked up a $7k bounty on my head. Cue me chortling at eejits at the front door watching them mull around on CCTV, trying to figure out the situation.

Genius, and an easy $7k for moi once time expired.

I wonder how long we will need to wait for the UGC patch. Really looking forward to that.

Also hoping that something actually comes of Rockstar saying they are thinking of bringing in Vice City and Liberty City in expansions... would be great to see Vice City updated to a modern setting (complete, presumably, with a massive gay presence!)

    A Vice City 'expansion'?

Surely that'd be an entire new game, if not one of the biggest slices of DLC ever delivered.

Would love to see it happen though.

Las venturas and San Fierro maybe. Absolutely no chance of them adding another franchise channel as an expansion.

    @FuzzyDuck

They've mentioned that they are thinking about putting the other cities in as content patches. Presumably they mean just for online, but if the SP expansions go a bit globe-trotty as well (which, considering how much VC and LC are mentioned in the SP game, is possible), then it would be truly awesome.

I guess you would travel to them via the airport or something and they would be separately instanced places.

    @darkmorgado

    Was not aware of that.

I'd loose my marbles if I got to bomb around Vice City with V's iteration of the game engine. Imagine watching a sunset on Washington Beach. Oh yes.

There was something on CVG about it ages ago. It was heavily hinted.

Well it seems I have had my alloted 4/5 hours kip!
...so GTA it is then albeit quietly. Kids and wifey still sound-o.

It is a shame that The Name Of The Rose is only on iPlayer through consoles or PC and not tv. I fancy a bit of that, but not in my "games" room

I didn't make a new character in the end, I just waited for a bit and my character and cash came back.

Did a rally race earlier. Driver doesn't have a minimap, so his navigator gives him directions. Was paired with L Franko.

I laughed so hard, I couldn't breathe and literally felt like I was going to pass out. (And I know what literally means.)
