We're about to get a new intranet and I'm responisble for doing some research. Came across Yammer that looks alright but I'd love to hear from some one who has used it.

If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

Yammer sucks - it doesn't really give you any tools and you have to pay for everything. Bitrix24 is a much better (and free) alternative, if your team is small. Podio is OK too. Chatter sucks. Jive Software sucks. Other alternatives are Moxie Software and Huddle. I'd say try Bitrix24 and Podio first. What do you need intranet for?

We used Yammer until we realised that nobody really wanted to.

They introduced it at our place too, but nobody could figure out why. Or what it was for. Or why we should use it.

Technically I think it's still there, but nobody ever really took to it.

We use(d) the public site for about a week and then interest died off hard. I think it's about to get reintroduced as part of a CRM/Dynamics upgrade we're doing but still not convinced anyone will actually use it

We use it at work... seems to do the job. A lot of the non-dev people have totally closed internet connections, so Yammer is used a lot by those people.

Has mobile apps on all platforms as well.
