About time too - it's 'only' 11 months late!

    https://twitter.com/ChineseRoom/status/368333167721459712

So far can be pre-ordered from gog.com, gamersgate, Desura and SteamDB. Available for PC, Mac OS X and Linux (although only Desura and SteamDB lists all three OS options).

    @RobAnybody

Hurrah! Outlast is released on the 3rd as well, so looks like September is a good month for shitting your pants and crying like a baby.

I loved the demo of Amnesia so bought the game in a sale and then played it for 20 minutes. In those twenty minutes I walked around in the dark terrified, heard some horrible noises that I thought were getting closer so hid in a cupboard, I then left the cupboard when I realised there was nothing there. After that I switched it off and I was incredibly paranoid for the rest of the night.

I still really want this game!

Day one purchase for me. A Dark Descent is one of my favourite games of this gen. I've been dying for this to come out!

Let's hope that this is even scarier than the last ;)

'Look at you, hacker: a pathetic creature of meat and bone, panting and sweating as you run through my corridors. How can you challenge a perfect, immortal machine?'

Preordered, and I've started laying down the plastic sheeting already.

So it's worth playing through Amnesia then? I played it for about half an hour, got stuck and never went back.

If anyone is curious how the new game looks and plays, Frictional Games have been sending out review copies not only to the usual rags, but also certain YouTube Let's Players. They have also allowed the latter to show up to 30 minutes of the first part of the game, so if you can't wait a week and want to get a feel for how the game looks, sounds and is played you can watch a video (with commentary).

There will of course be some spoilers, but as the footage will be from early in the game there are no huge spoilers (yes, I've watched one).

If you're tempted then I'd recommend the first 25 minutes as uploaded by MaskedGamer:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pg3dxBUAlsY

But if you don't want ANY spoilers you should of course avoid that like the plague. :)

The review embargo ends on 9th September (the day before the game is released) so expect reviews and full LP's to start appearing then. Just be careful of major spoilers. :)

Not so keen on the look of Outlast from what I've seen of it - it looks much more like an 'action'-based jump-scare fest with zero atmosphere and barely any story.

I'll take Amnesia any day. :)

What's the connection between this and the first game? Same guy or place?

A Machine For Pigs is set in 1899, so about 60 years after The Dark Descent. The characters are different and there is apparently no direct link with the first, although the devs have said that there could be some very subtle references to the first in one or two places.

And now a short Eurogamer LP of the first half hour or so:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcQhiaGNRkw

Some small spoilers of course ..... but nothing major.

(although the LP by MaskedGamer is much better IMHO). :)
