Fuck that lens, I want an old timey flash that goes POOF with a big cloud of smoke.

That is a horrible looking lens taking horrible looking pictures.

Seriously, the swirly background/sharp foreground effect gives me nausea just looking at it.

I love the effect of the lens, but I'm a bit of a bokkeh fanboy.

As for the lens itself, I do personally like the look of it, but not sure I'd feel comfortable using one in public. Hate feeling like a photography hipster twat. Makes me very self-conscious. Would probably try and get the black one if I did go for it.

Kickstarter is already a third of the way there is a couple of hours. Don't think they'll be struggling with the target.

If I back this, I'll take an engraved one with Devilskebab on it, as that'll amuse me somewhat

Only one left at $300. Watch for the import tax though! It's kind of cool but when I look at the pictures I end up just thinking the focus is too soft.

Focus at the centre is supposed to be very sharp, and most of those shots will be at 2.2. There's a wide choice of other apertures.

Halfway to the target now. They'll make it in one day.

    And they've hit target.
I think I'll back it myself later on tonight

    I backed it :)

What kind of mugs pay for the top rewards on these things btw? So weird.

They're nearly at 1m pledged now. They keep on adding nice little bonuses that people that pledged will get for the new benchmarks they keep setting. I'll now be getting a cleaning cloth, a leather pouch and brass felt-lined lens caps to go with my lens.

Looking at about 700 worth of kit now for my $300 pledge. Pretty sweet.

Think that would be a very interesting lens to have in your kit bag, rather fancy a go with one now.

Some really nice shots in the examples, and some dreadful ones - does make me suspect that the results are going to be a little bit random, that you'd get some blinding shots and lots of ones that just look a bit 'off'.

Will be fun to experiment with though and I reckon when you do get a good 'un it'll be *really* good :-)

Glad you posted this as I decided to back it too, for $500 as I wanted an engraved one. Fingers crossed they do manage to get the first batch made in Decmeber as I always take that month off as a holiday (joys of being a contractor) so it'll give me plenty of time to play with it.

I kind of want them to stop going on about it now. They're hammering Facebook with updates and keep on sending email ones too. I'm really excited but it's going to make waiting at least four or five months very hard if they keep this up.

Wow, you get some pretty trippy effects using it for video.

This would have been perfect for a video I shot a few months ago, and artsy video for a friend doing a suspension....
Looks like I'll have to invest in some LED lighting rope and meshes for backgrounds to really get some good effects out of this

They're now taking pre-orders for these through the Lomo store.

Glad I snagged one at $300 now!

I was a $500 backer with the engraved option, so I SHOULD be one of the first 500 that will be shipping shortly.

Fingers crossed, it'll be with me before Christmas

I've finally bothered to find out what 'bokkeh' means.

Not as nice as I used to be

Still waiting for mine, pretty unhappy as I sumped up some extra cash to be one of the first 200 and and it's turned out that everyone who went beyound the basic lens backing are getting theirs much later than everyone else.

Isn't that just so they get the engraving right or something?

It's quite a hard lens to use. I'm loving it, but the combination of not being able to use a light meter and manual focus makes it hit and miss.

That's what they said, but so many people told them if they know that was causing the delay they'd have opted to go without, myself included.

Part and parcel of backing an untested product I guess. The joy of receiving it will be remembered long after the delay is forgotten, though.

If the whole thing had been delayed then I'd not be so pissed, it was the fact that I backed the option to have one of the first 250 lenses.
The first batch of lenses went out three months ago and around 1500-2000 have been shipped and all the high tier backers are still waiting to recieve their lenses.
They now claim that we are still getting one of the first ones made, even if they are getting shipped later, that's the niggling fact.
