That's a bit fucking rude - pretend you a starting a interesting new discussion no ones ever had before, but you are just pimping some abomination of a forum!

@richardiox Shit !!! Beach Head !!!! I have loads of golden C64 memories but I had totally forgotten about that game. I better not check it out or it'll ruin it for me but I seem to remember it being awesome.

Paradroid was my favourite though, although don't know why.

Edit: Couldn't help myself - looked at the screenshots of Beach Head - looks weird now.

Actually, Boulderdash was definitely my favourite game from that era.

    Beachhead was great fun.
Paradroid and Uridium were great fun too.

Forbidden Forest got a lot of my game time too.

Was Wizball C64/speccy? I think it was. Had loads of fun playing that with a mate. My first taste of co-op hijinks.

Man, I could go on for hours about this.

Not to mention Manic Miner, Jet Set Willie, Chuckie Egg, Buggy Boy, Revenge Of The Mutant Camels etc etc.

    /rambles on incoherently for hours...

There was a sideways shooter which was advanced for the C64 which came out towards the end of the 64s domination of video gaming.

I'm sure it was called Gryzor or something similar. Some future marine type person running round shooting shit. It was a sort of 3D sideways shooter.

Oh and let's not forget clumsy colin

Does anyone remember Thing on a Spring ? I have memories of that looking a bit next-gen.

And what about a game with crows, moles and postman - forget its name.

"The Durrs from the planet Suna have broken through the defensive forces of the Earth. In an unexplored region on our planet they errect a fortress with an atmospheric machine. This enables them to change the weather on Earth to their wishes, to create a glacial period and loot all resources of the Earth.
You are Lance Gryzor, a member of the United Earth Defense Forces, who has seen through the intentions of the Durrs. Our hero's task is to invade the fortress, passing the androids, and to destroy the heart of the complex, the atmospheric machine. Numerous dangers as e.g. different weapon systems, deadly tunnels and aliens try to stop Lance. There is only one man who can bring this mission to a successful end - his name ...... Lance Gryzor! Just bought an Android on a stick for the tv and actually played some Speccy games last night. Played Target Renegade, Robocop (just loved the ID level), Dizzy, ATV Simulator and Striker. Good times.

    @Madder-Max

That would indeed be Gryzor (Contra in other territories)

Bastard hard for an 8-year old me. Much preferred Midnight Resistance.

Beach head, that was an awesome game.

Head over heels, arkanoid, freddy hardest, barbarian II etc R-Type was a decent conversion of a console title as well I remember. Not bad considering a pocket calculator these days is probably 1000x more powerful than the cpu's they had in those machines.

One game that people don't talk about much that I always had a soft spot for was the Spectrum 128K version of Amaurote. I seem to recall hearing that the C64 version was quite different and a lot worse. (isometric game redone in plan view)

    Pole Position.

I was so excited when I got my C64 emulator and got to play that again.

    And God, was it terrible.
