    Well he's right, an American pitbull is a lot more dangerous than say, a pug.
    If you train it to be yes. Doesn't mean some breeds of dog are lethal. It's the type of ignorant statement that leads to scum bags buying and mistreating some dogs.
    Look at his post again Mowgs, he said "can" be lethal, not are lethal, get your head out of your arse.

    All dogs 'can' be lethal though which makes it a pointless statement. But I really don't care anymore.

    it isn't as clean cut as it sounds.

    1) the guy shouldn't have been filming the police (but that doesn't make it right)

    2) at times the dog was getting quite aggressive, what do you suggest they do instead?

    Its pretty horrible to watch tho :(

    Don't the police have tazers over there?

    Far as we know the cops had a perfectly valid reason for arresting the bloke (and they didn't seem unnecessarily rough on him either). Far as we know the cops might also have prior experience with dogs attacking them in the neighbourhood.

    Given the above, I am deeply saddened to see the dog get killed - but can't fault anyone but the owner, WHO should know a) that his behaviour was bound to get him into trouble and b) that his dog would try to defend him.

    Why shouldn't he have been filming the police? Is there a alaw against that? Genuine question.

    If there is a law then isn't it a bit of a piss-take seeing as the US government have been spying on all of their citizens...

    @mowgli

    The problem with a tazer is they don't effect dogs in the some way as people. The dog will go down for the few seconds the charge is deployed but get straight back up again as soon as it's over in an angry / scared state making it even more dangerous.

    What happened to the guy filming the guy filming the police, and why weren't they arrested and their beloved bet killed brutally before their very eyes?

    The guy apparently has a history and a lawsuit against him, he was obviously trying to wind them up too by the looks of it.

    I don't think Tazers are effective against animals, they only temporarily disable a target, giving the cops enough time to restrain them.

    General consensus seems to rightfully place blame on the owner. The more I think about it the more of an irresponsible cunt he seems to become. Poor animal.

    This, a friend posted on Facebook and I was expecting something much worse.

    Yea dogs are lovely but this guy should have made sure he was secure in the car. The police were left with no other option imo.

    I would think police brutality against humans is a bigger issue.
    They were left with no other option but to shoot it??? So how do police without guns handle dogs?

    They get mauled and then wait for the armed response to come and shoot it.

    Hard to fault the police in this instance.

    Pretty sure you get a stern warning if you film the police here, especially in London.
    There is no law against filming the police here and anyone who says otherwise is wrong. A lot of people seem to think that this makes it perfectly fine to get right up in to officers faces with their phones whilst they're trying to work and then feign surprise and outrage when told to step back a bit.

    This. Cops don't get paid to get mauled (or even risk it) because some twat can't control his dog after acting like a dick.

    Doesn't the new counter-terrorism act say....;

    '16; “allows for the arrest and imprisonment of anyone who takes pictures of officers ‘likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism’.” The punishment for this offense is imprisonment for up to ten years and a fine.'

    So they can just say, we think you may be preparing an act of terrorism and arrest you.

    If only he had closed the car windows. Poor doggie.

    I blame the owner, and I guess there's nothing else the cops could've done.

    @LetsGo

    Because that's not what that bit of legislation is about. It would be an abuse of the power (unless there was more going on in that scenario)
